Why we need you
Our Android app is used by patients in clinics and at home to complete speech, language, and cognitive therapy — often during the most challenging recovery of their lives. As an Android Engineer, you'll build and improve the core therapy experience, integrate AI-driven features like real-time speech feedback, and ensure the app runs reliably across the wide range of devices found in clinical settings. You'll work closely with Product, Design, and our ML team to ship features that directly impact patient outcomes.
About the Company
At nyra health, we’re building software that makes a real difference. Our tools help clinics, therapists, and patients in their neurorehabilitation journey. Our products — myReha (therapy app) and nyra insights (web platform for patient management and analysis) — deliver evidence-based, AI-powered neurotherapy at scale.
If that resonates with you, we’d love to hear from you.
What you'll shape
- Core therapy experience: Build and maintain interactive therapy modules — including speech exercises, cognitive tasks, and multimedia content — that patients use daily
- Speech and AI integration: Integrate on-device and cloud-based speech recognition, pronunciation feedback, and ML model inference into the app
- Performance optimization: Optimize for the full range of Android devices used in clinical environments — from older tablets to modern phones
- Collaboration with Product and Design: Translate clinical requirements and UX designs into polished, accessible Android experiences
- Quality and reliability: Write clean, testable code and contribute to a culture of code review, automated testing, and continuous improvement
What sets you up for success
- AI-native workflow: You use AI tools daily — Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar — not as a novelty, but as your default way of working. You write better code faster because of it.
- Multi-agent fluency: You're comfortable orchestrating multiple AI agents, chaining prompts, and building workflows where AI handles the heavy lifting while you steer the outcome.
- Tooling mindset: You actively shape your own dev environment — custom scripts, automation, MCP servers, CLI tools — and you're always looking for ways to remove friction from your workflow.
- Android expertise: 3+ years of professional Android development with Kotlin
- Modern Android stack: Strong experience with Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Hilt/Dagger, Room, and MVVM/MVI architecture
- Media and audio: Experience with Android audio APIs, media playback, or real-time audio processing
- Offline-first patterns: Familiarity with offline data strategies, sync mechanisms, and local persistence
- Performance tuning: Experience profiling and optimizing Android apps for diverse hardware
- Collaboration: Comfortable working cross-functionally with Product, Design, QA, and backend teams
- Bonus: Experience with on-device ML (TensorFlow Lite, ONNX), Unity integration, healthcare/medtech, or accessibility standards
Beyond your CV
- Craft-oriented: You care about smooth animations, responsive UIs, and delightful details — even in a clinical context
- Empathetic builder: You think about the end user — a patient recovering from a stroke, or a therapist managing 20 patients — and let that guide your decisions
- Pragmatic problem-solver: You find the right balance between ideal architecture and shipping value fast
- Curious about AI: You're excited about integrating ML models and speech processing into mobile experiences
- Team player: You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy sharing knowledge
