The position is based in Vallila, Helsinki, where GE HealthCare employs approximately 700 people, split between engineering R&D and manufacturing. The Helsinki site is a center of excellence in wearable patient monitoring development and has a long-standing reputation within the company as a powerhouse of innovation. Essential Responsibilities
- Design and develop C++ backend and Qt frontend software for patient monitoring devices used in critical healthcare environments.
- Build reliable, high‑quality software using modern tools, development processes, and industry best practices aligned with medical device standards.
- Continuously improve development methods, tools, automation, and code quality, contributing to team-wide excellence.
- Collaborate closely within a multi-disciplinary agile team, including systems engineers, UX designers, clinical domain experts, and testers.
- Take end-to-end ownership of development tasks, including design reviews, implementation, testing, verification, and documentation.
- Work effectively in a global, cross-functional, and multicultural environment, working seamlessly with distributed teams and stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with C++, object-oriented design, and modern software engineering methodologies.
- Experience with Qt and QML for building user interfaces.
- Proficiency with Git and software development in Linux environments.
- Experience applying AI-powered tools to enhance software development workflows.
- A proactive, self‑directed mindset with enthusiasm for learning, experimenting, and solving complex problems.
- Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and troubleshooting skills.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Legally authorized to work in Finland.
- Experience diagnosing and debugging embedded software or low-level system issues.
- Experience working with distributed or multi-process systems.
