Job Title: Electrical System Expert
Location: Finland (Vaasa or Pietarsaari)
Role: Permanent
About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled Expert specializing in the Electrical Center of Excellence (CoE) discipline to join our Plant Engineering unit. This pivotal role involves overseeing technical project management and engineering activities within the Electrical discipline. Aa an Expert you will collaborate with colleagues and customers globally, contributing to exciting project deliveries across various industries.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical system architecture & documentation: Develop single-line diagrams, protection philosophies, schematic drawings, cable routing plans, load lists, equipment datasheets, and BoMs.
Power system studies: Perform load flow, short-circuit, voltage drop, motor starting and protection coordination/selectivity
Equipment sizing Specify transformers (oil/dry), HV/MV/LV switchgear , bus ducts, MCCs, UPS, AVR/excitation systems, power distribution panels, control cabinets, cable systems )
Hazardous area & safety compliance: Execute ATEX/IECEx classification and design (IEC 60079), ensure functional safety integration, and drive electrical safe work practices (e.g., EN 50110, NFPA 70E).
Protection & control engineering:
Define relay settings, logic, interlocking, and selectivity; prepare I/O lists; integrate with SCADA/DCS; support factory/site acceptance tests (FAT/SAT).
Vendor & stakeholder management: Prepare specifications, perform technical bid evaluations, review vendor drawings, and coordinate with civil, mechanical, process, and automation disciplines.
Quality & delivery ownership: Plan deliverables, track progress, ensure compliance with codes/standards, and support construction, commissioning, and handover.
Design governance: Lead design reviews, HAZID/HAZOP participation, risk assessments, and lessons-learned capture; mentor junior engineers and enforce configuration control.
Field support: Provide technical support during installation and as-built documentation.
Qualifications:
M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical or control engineering.
Self-driven and systematic working style with strong problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency with engineering tools in the Electrical discipline.
Fluent in spoken and written English and Finnish or Swedish.
Knowledge of Medium Voltage Systems, Low Voltage Systems & Control Systems is seen as an advantage
Presentation skills:
Problem-solving and decision-making
Knowledge of power generation and power grids is seen as an advantage
