As UAT Lead you will play a critical leadership role in defining, executing and evolving the UAT test strategy for a large transformational project, with a strong focus on collaborating with different groups across our customer's organisation, managing third party supplier and meeting project deadlines. 

This role combines close collaboration with end users on a business transformation project, transitioning from paper-based task allocation to a new web and mobile application with creating a test strategy for the user acceptance testing of the new application. Responsibilities include supporting acceptance testing, tracking progress and quality metrics, triaging and reporting defects, driving defect resolution with relevant stakeholders, and producing a quality assurance report prior to go-live. You’ll bring a passion for fostering a quality-first culture, lead by example, and mentor team members who may be less familiar with quality engineering best practices. 

This role will also require building a strong relationship with business stakeholders, understanding and execution of their practices and processes and assisting them with acceptance testing.  There will be very close collaboration with the Tech QA to ensure processes are adhered to and reusable quality artefacts are available for future iterations of the project. 

This position follows an on-site work model, requiring candidates to work from our client's Dublin office 5 days a week.

Required skills & qualifications:

Test Planning, Execution & Leadership 

  • Define and drive a unified QA strategy for upcoming transformation project
  • Work closely with third-party vendor to ensure the test strategy and test plan is aligned, that requirements are fully understood and documented and that defects found during testing are triaged, prioritised and addressed in a timely manner. 
  • Develop data-based reports to provide real time progress metrics, identify challenges and support decision making. 
  • Champion a prioritised approach to testing ensuring that efforts are focused on high value, high complexity aspects of the application. 
  • Lead by example, supporting teams in achieving their goals and deadlines. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationship with our customer's teams. 

Governance & Metrics 

  • Establish KPIs and visibility for test coverage, test health, and test readiness. 
  • Promote consistent test practices across the team, including naming conventions, tagging, and execution strategies. 
  • Define quality metrics that support data-driven decisions and foster continuous improvement. 
  • Define and enforce defect resolutions and SLA’s with internal and external teams 
  • Ensure test governance aligns with industry and regulatory standards. 
  • Ensuring that quality gates are met before changes are introduced and adequate communication plans are in place to inform teams when changes are made. 

Collaboration & Culture 

  • Foster a culture of shared ownership, proactive testing, and cross-team learning. 
  • Support retrospectives and help teams turn QA feedback into meaningful change. 
  • Partner with Tech, Operations and third-party teams on test strategy, resource planning, and delivery accountability. 

Key responsibilities & duties include:

  • 8+ years of experience in QA roles, including at least 3 years in a leadership position. 
  • Excellent understanding of QA engineering best practices, methodologies and processes. 
  • Experience with creating robust QA strategies and QA plans, particularly for  busy non-technical end users. 
  • Experience with developing UAT strategies for significant, transformational projects in a large enterprise. 
  • Deep understanding of QA management tooling such as Jira and Zephyr (or similar) 
  • Skilled in test reporting, defect analytics, and metrics-led improvement. 
  • Experience with QA of third-party supplied applications. 
  • Deep understanding of QA methodologies, test planning, and risk-based testing. 
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement. 
  • Leading test activities with offshore resources. 

Desirable skills:

  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements in the aviation sector. 
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes, AWS, or other cloud platforms. 
  • Leading UAT teams without QA Engineering experience. 
  • Exposure to airport operations and/or flight control tooling.
