The Position

We are looking for an AI & Algorithm Engineer to develop and optimize core algorithms enabling autonomous flight operations for advanced UAV platforms.

You will work across two critical domains:

  • Computer vision & perception
  • State estimation & flight control algorithms

Your mission: design and deliver production-ready, real-time algorithms for safety-critical autonomous systems operating in GNSS-denied and contested environments.

Key Responsibilities

Computer Vision & Perception

  • Develop real-time detection, classification, tracking, and visual SLAM algorithms
  • Optimize deep learning models (YOLO, Transformers, CNNs) for embedded edge deployment
  • Deploy models on platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson and Qualcomm RB5 under strict latency and power constraints
  • Implement pose estimation, optical flow, feature tracking, and change detection algorithms

State Estimation & Flight Control

  • Design and implement Kalman filters (EKF, UKF), complementary filters, and sensor fusion pipelines
  • Integrate IMU, GPS, vision, and RF positioning data for robust state estimation
  • Develop motion prediction and adaptive filtering techniques
  • Contribute to control-theoretic estimators for tracking, collision avoidance, and swarm coordination

Integration & Validation

  • Integrate algorithms into flight control units and companion computers
  • Benchmark using simulation environments such as Gazebo and MATLAB / Simulink
  • Perform HIL/HITL validation
  • Conduct field trials, analyze telemetry, and optimize KPIs (accuracy, latency, robustness)
  • Support documentation and certification activities

Your Profile

Must-Have

  • Strong foundation in computer vision, estimation theory, and control systems
  • Experience with SLAM, sensor fusion, Kalman filtering (EKF/UKF)
  • Proficiency in C++ and/or Python for real-time systems
  • Experience deploying AI models on embedded hardware
  • Experience in simulation and algorithm validation
  • Fluent in English
  • National of a NATO member country or NATO Indo-Pacific partner (Australia, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Ukraine)

Nice to Have

  • Experience in GNSS-denied navigation
  • Background in robotics, aerospace, or autonomous systems
  • Familiarity with safety-critical software development
  • Knowledge of flight dynamics

What we offer

  • Access to exciting projects in key sectors: Transport, Energy, Automotive, Telecom, Finance
  • A diverse client base: Collaborations with both large corporations and smaller dynamic companies across Belgium
  • A real career development plan: Continuous training, coaching, daily knowledge sharing
  • An innovative and collaborative environment
