For our Partner Catawiki we are looking for Junior Back-End Engineer with interest in:

As a Junior Software Engineer, you’ll contribute to enhancing our platform, working on high-scale systems that handle 75,000 weekly auctions and over 10 million visitors per month. You’ll have the opportunity to make a visible impact within one of our core verticals: Demand, Supply, or Fulfilment.


What You’ll Do

  • Build: Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve scalable microservices in a fully autonomous team.
  • Collaborate: Partner with product designers, owners, and engineers (front-end, back-end, and mobile) to develop innovative features and optimize processes.
  • Grow: Support our engineering culture by advocating for best practices, fixing bugs, and improving code quality.
  • Learn: Experiment with cutting-edge technologies and participate in our Technical Week to foster creativity, innovation, and knowledge-sharing across teams.


Who You Are

We’re seeking passionate, curious, and open-minded engineers ready to take on new challenges and grow with us. Whether you’re new to Ruby or have prior experience with another programming language, your eagerness to learn and contribute is what matters most.


Key Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of experience in your first full-time job.
  • A Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Familiarity with at least one mainstream programming language (Ruby, Python, Go, Java, Scala, Kotlin, etc.) and the desire to learn Ruby.
  • Fundamental knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Some experience collaborating in teams, whether in a professional or academic setting.
  • Bonus: Knowledge of APIs (e.g., REST, JSON, HTTP, or gRPC).
