We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Data Protection Officer (DPO) to lead and oversee data protection compliance across the organization. This role ensures alignment with UAE Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), and international privacy regulations.
Part of the Information & Cyber Security team, the DPO will provide independent oversight, advice, and monitoring of all personal data processing activities. You will serve as the primary contact for data protection matters across the Group.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Protection Governance
- Develop, implement, and maintain a data protection framework aligned with UAE PDPL and UK GDPR.
- Monitor compliance with data protection policies, procedures, and security standards.
- Prepare compliance reports for management and regulators.
Regulatory & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the main point of contact for regulators, employees, and data subjects.
- Coordinate breach notifications to UAE Data Office and UK ICO.
- Oversee responses to data subject requests (access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection).
Risk, Security & Incident Management
- Conduct privacy impact assessments for high-risk processing.
- Lead the entire lifecycle of personal data breach management.
- Contribute to third-party risk management and ensure contracts include privacy safeguards.
- Ensure valid cross-border transfer mechanisms are in place.
Training & Operations
- Develop and deliver privacy and data protection training.
- Maintain data inventories, retention schedules, and compliance documentation.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Security, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in data protection, privacy, compliance, or information security.
- Experience with UAE PDPL and understanding of UK GDPR.
- Knowledge of ISO 27701 and ISO 27001 preferred.
