We currently have an opportunity for a Safety Officer role. This position is based in Sohar, Oman
 
Preferred Omani National.
 
Position Tittle: Safety Officer
Contract Duration :1 year extendable

Jop purpose
The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines, and standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.
 
Main Accountabilities
Safety Audits and Inspections: Perform regular site safety inspections and audits of the workplace, contractor’s activities, tools / equipment, and procedures etc.   Ensure that any identified non-compliance issues are reported, tracked and corrected promptly by area owners.
Employee Training and Education: Provide safety training on safe work procedures, HSSE Induction, PTW / Lock Out Tag Out system, etc., for all employees including contractors. Prepare & execute HSSE campaigns, and any other training/awareness related to HSSE campaign.
Incident Management: a). Coordinate with area owners and facilitates incident root investigation using RCA tools such as TapRoot, 5WHY, FTA etc.  to identify incident root causes and prevent future occurrences. Coordinates the preparation of investigation reports. Prepares Flash Safety Alert (FSA), Learning from Incident LFI and ensure these are communicated to all stakeholders. b). Ensure all Intelex reports including incidents, Safety observations and LSR are reviewed and validated. C). Track & verify Intelex reports & actions close out to ensure preventive actions are taken
Performance Monitoring: Develop weekly/monthly assigned area safety reports/presentations with good analytics and update further as per directions from Team Lead.
Risk Assessments: Supports & participate in risk assessments to identify potential hazards related to routine and non-routine tasks in the workplace.
Develop and Implement Safety Procedures: Contribute to improving safety processes and procedure by acting as SME for safety procedure(s). Develop & periodically review and update and support site implementation of safe work procedures & work instructions on need basis.
Contractor HSSE Monitoring: Monitor contractors HSE plans site implementation and conduct planned site inspection, camp inspection & contractor’s HSE meetings.
Support Occupational Health / Environment activities e.g. Noise monitoring, Lux monitoring, Heat Stress Level monitoring, Fatigue management, Odour monitoring, etc.
Develop and Implement Safety Procedures: Develop safe work procedures, Work Instructions etc.  necessary for maintaining safe work practices and asset integrity. Guide, and provide expert's insight, on safe systems of work and techniques, and develop content for learning packages. Conduct site audits to check effectiveness of implementing safety procedures such as PTW, Lock Out and Tag Out etc.
 
Education requirements
Minimum Qualifications for this position is a Bachelor Degree in Engineering / Diploma in Safety.
Bachelor’s degree
Officer - 5-8 years of relevant experience
Diploma in Safety - Officer - 8+ years of relevant experience

Language requirements 
Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required) | Arabic - Native (desirable)
 
Notable Working Conditions.
Field Operations and office environment, Moderate to intensive computer screen use.

Both:
Relevant experience in same role within the Oil and Gas industry preferable in Refinery, Petrochemical, and Petroleum processes.
Knowledge of main Safety procedures
Experience in the field of managing Safety aspects in Petrochemical, Oil & Gas industries.
Occupational Health & Safety Management System-
Experience in HSE audits.
Knowledge of ISO 45001 and RC14001.
Knowledge of risk management methods and practices.
Knowledge of HAZOP or similar studies.
 
Technical:
Proficiency in M/S Office & Presentations
Quantitative & Qualitative Risk Assessments (QRA)
Ability to prepare, update and draft policies, procedures, and guidelines in Safety discipline
Evidence searches and analysis
Ability to review engineering documents, P&ID.
HAZOP, HAZID.
Root cause analysis
Investigations, Reporting, Documentation
Technical writing, Record keeping
