This role will include the provision of support and in some cases be in charge of reviewing and drafting of Vodafone Oman contracts with a focus on commercial and labour laws as well as TRA regulations. The role holder will further play a significant role in helping shape the Legal strategy of Vodafone Oman.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
- Define and drive strategic and operational initiatives with on-time and on-budget results with approval of Senior Legal Counsel and Legal Director, and report on key operational and substantive metrics.
- Identify and implement legal department and company tools to streamline new or existing practices, as well as managing design, rollout, and training for new systems including AI tools.
- Develop and enforce processes and policies to manage outside counsel usage and spend.
- Assist with budget matters and optimizing workflows within the legal department
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including commercial, regulatory, IT, and finance, as well as various business units
- The role is also expected to carry out the following activities at initial stage for a limited period and to be revisited with Legal Director on agreed frequency:
1- Develop, assess and negotiate contracts on non-disclosure, consultancy, IT, Software, Telecom wholesale services, VAS, consignments, consumer and enterprise terms and conditions and commercial documents.
2- Ensure consistency of contract terms with laws, regulations and company policies and goals.
3- Expedite and review contracts from company’s suppliers, customers and other relevant parties
4- Offer legal advisory services to business units.
Demonstrated knowledge of data protection laws and regulations is preferred
Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
- Ability to provide operational input on legal issues arising within the business.
- Excellent communicator with gravitas to influence, persuade and negotiate at all levels, including at Legal Director and CXO level.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as contracts and commercial lawyer.
- Experienced in structuring and negotiating complex transactions and providing legal advice on these transactions to senior business people.
- Ability to give specialist advice to commercial and HR colleagues in order to drive decisions and to resolve immediate, complex and strategically important issues.
- Ability to implement and utilise contract management systems and legal technology, including AI tools, to streamline drafting, review, and compliance processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce risk.

- Contracts within corporate risk profile
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
- University degree.
- Legally qualified with experience gained in-house and potentially prior to in-house at a leading law firm.
- Expert knowledge of contract and commercial law, as well as labour law.
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English language.
- Drafting and negotiating experience, with ability to provide innovative legal solutions in a fast moving industry.
- Start-up experience in setting up a new company/operator is highly desirable
