About US

Tata Electronics is a prominent global player in the electronics manufacturing industry, with fast-emerging capabilities in Electronics Manufacturing Services, Semiconductor Assembly and Test, Semiconductor Foundry, and Design Services.

Brief Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer (5-10+years) with strong expertise in precision enclosure design, mechanical mechanisms, and product development for high‑quality electronic devices. The role involves end‑to‑end ownership of mechanical architecture, enclosure components, hinge mechanisms, internal frames, and manufacturability, while closely collaborating with cross‑functional teams and suppliers to deliver robust, production-ready designs.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead mechanical design for device enclosures, covers, internal structures, hinge systems, and supporting mechanical elements.
  • Develop detailed 3D CAD models and complete engineering drawings with full GD&T and tolerance stack-up considerations.
  • Engineer kinematic mechanisms—specifically hinge assemblies—with controlled torque and smooth user experience.
  • Design internal frames, brackets, stiffeners, and mounting solutions for PCBs, connectors, and modules.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, suppliers, and tooling teams for prototypes, tool reviews, and production trials.
  • Conduct structural/thermal analysis using CAE tools and validate designs through simulations and testing.
  • Resolve build issues during pilot and ramp-up phases, driving ECOs and quality improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with mechanical, safety, environmental, and material standards throughout the design cycle.
  • Support high‑volume manufacturing readiness by optimizing designs for efficiency, quality, and CMF alignment.
  • Capture lessons learned to strengthen future design guidelines and best practices.

Desired Skills

  • Strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, mechanisms, machine elements, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
  • Proven experience designing enclosures, covers (A/C/D), chassis parts, and mechanical assemblies for electronic or similar precision products.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD tools for large assemblies and detailed 2D drawings.
  • Hands-on knowledge of manufacturing processes: injection molding, sheet metal, CNC, die casting, and surface finishes.
  • Experience with FEA/CAE tools (ANSYS, Abaqus) and PLM/PDM systems for BOM and revision control.

Added Advantage to the Role

  • Experience in consumer electronics or high-precision enclosure development.
  • Understanding of high‑volume production processes, reliability testing (drop, thermal, IP), and quality standards.
  • Ability to collaborate with global suppliers and willingness to travel for vendor tooling reviews and issue resolution.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and environmental requirements (ROHS, REACH, material safety).
