Your Opportunity

As the Advisor, Human Resources you will play a pivotal role in strengthening our organisational capability by contributing to workforce strategies that foster high performance and continuous improvement. You’ll help shape a culture aligned to our strategic goals through impactful HR initiatives across leadership development, recruitment and selection, employee relations, and broader strategic HR management.

We have a full-time, fixed-term opportunities until 15 January 2027 available. This role reports to the Manager, Human Resources (Operations) and collaborates closely under the leadership of the Manager, Human Resources (Workforce), offering a great opportunity to work across a supportive and highly engaged HR team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Safety First, Working Together, Focusing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility and Showing Initiative.
  • Support the Manager, Human Resources by overseeing key projects and initiatives across the following disciplines:
    • Strategic Human Resource Management ;
    • Employee Relations;
    • Job Evaluation Management;
    • Leadership Development;
    • Professional Development;
    • Recruitment and Selection; and
    • Workplace Injury and Rehabilitation Case Management.
    • In collaboration with the Senior Advisor, Human Resources; provide high level advice and support to managers to undertake informal and formal performance management processes including case management.
    • Understand and interpret employee relations legislation, policies/guidelines and manage processes/procedures relevant to staff discipline, employee complaints and performance matters as required.
    • Encourage an environment in which high quality, best practice HR services are delivered by continually seeking and recommending improvements in systems and processes and leading by example, whilst developing solutions to problems specific to the business environment.
    • Maintain high levels of communication to effectively liaise, negotiate, consult and problem solve with a diverse range of stakeholders, including internal and external clients whilst fostering collaborative relationships.
    • Develop and execute effective recruitment and selection strategies that will identify the Region as an employer of choice and support best practice principles.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of specific strategies, processes and systems to achieve real and measurable change and cultural improvements across the Region.
    • Conduct research on issues relative to leadership development, and provide advice on future directions, leadership development strategies and appropriate initiatives that will support the Region’s strategic focus.
    • Research, write and present project plans, business case submissions and reports.
    • Build and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders to effectively drive projects with a focus to achieve business unit and organisational outcomes.


    How You Will Be Assessed

    The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities: Demonstrated ability to contribute to developing plans, strategies, team goals and the ability to think creatively in a changing environment.

    • Knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire, the provisions of legislation, awards and agreements, policies and directives with the demonstrated ability to interpret and apply these provisions to the employment and management of human resources.
    • Demonstrated highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to manage the flow of people and business, liaise and consult with internal and external stakeholders regarding sensitive and confidential matters, maintain effective working relationships in a high-pressure environment.
    • Demonstrated personal drive and integrity through adoption of positive and balanced approach to work in a complex and competitive organisation.
    • Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal skills including negotiation with the capacity to resolve issues and manage dispute/grievance resolution and advocacy.

    Candidates who possess t ertiary qualifications and proven experience in Human Resources, business, organisational development or related disciplines
