Staff Systems Engineer (C++) at BairesDev

We’re looking for a Staff Systems Engineer with expert-level C++ skills and deep experience in the internals of distributed query engines. You’ve gone beyond writing performant code — you’ve defined how performance is measured, led optimization efforts across teams, and built the benchmarking infrastructure that makes that work possible. You’ll be taking on a senior IC role on query engine infrastructure that powers analytics for some of the largest data environments in the world, shaping technical direction and setting the standard for how the team approaches performance at scale.

What You’ll Do:

- Lead the design and optimization of critical query engine components in C++ for distributed analytics infrastructure.

- Define and drive CPU-level performance tuning strategies across the execution engine.

- Build and own benchmarking frameworks to measure and track performance at cluster scale.

- Set technical direction for distributed query performance across engineering teams.

- Mentor engineers and lead cross-team initiatives focused on query execution and optimization.

- Partner with stakeholders to prioritize and deliver high-impact performance improvements.

What We Are Looking For:

- 7+ years of experience in IT roles.

- 5+ years of experience with C++ as a primary programming language.

- Deep expertise in execution engine and query optimizer internals.

- Proven experience with CPU-level performance tuning in production environments.

- Background in benchmarking strategy and cluster-scale performance measurement.

- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-team optimization initiatives and influence technical direction.

- Advanced proficiency in English.
