Job Title: Java Backend Developer

Location: Mississauga, ON (4x onsite a week)

Employment Type: Contract

Pay Rate: CAD$50 - $55/HR INC

Interview Type: Face 2 Face (Onsite Interview Only)

Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Java Backend Developer with strong technical expertise in building scalable backend systems and handson experience in the insurance domain
The candidate will be responsible for developing backend services integrating with databases and external systems and supporting core insurance functions such as policy management claims underwriting and billing

Key Responsibilities

Design develop and maintain backend services using Java Spring Spring Boot and related technologies
Build and optimize microservices for high performance scalability and security
Work closely with business teams to understand insurance workflows and convert requirements into technical solutions
Implement RESTful APIs and integrate backend systems with internal and thirdparty applications
Write clean maintainable and welldocumented code following best practices
Design data models and interact with SQLNoSQL databases
Perform unit testing using JUnitMockito and support integration testing efforts
Participate in design discussions code reviews and Agile ceremonies
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues promptly
Create and maintain technical documentation

Required Skills Experience

5 years of experience in backend development using JavaJ2EE
Strong expertise in Spring Framework Spring Boot microservices and REST API development
Handson experience with HibernateJPA and ORM best practices
Good understanding of insurance domain processes including
Policy lifecycle quote bind issuance renewal
Claims processing
Underwriting workflows
Billing and payment systems
Proficiency in SQL MySQLOraclePostgreSQL and database design
Experience with Git MavenGradle Jenkins or other CICD tools
Familiarity with cloud platforms AWSAzureGCP is an added advantage
Strong debugging troubleshooting and problemsolving abilities

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of insurance platforms like Guidewire Duck Creek Insurity or similar
Experience with KafkaRabbitMQ or other messaging systems
Exposure to containerization Docker Kubernetes
Basic understanding of frontend frameworks AngularReact is a plus but not mandatory

Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to work independently and within Agile teams
Detailoriented with a commitment to delivering highquality software
Good analytical thinking and requirementgathering capability
