Why we need you

Our Android app is used by patients in clinics and at home to complete speech, language, and cognitive therapy — often during the most challenging recovery of their lives. As an Android Engineer, you'll build and improve the core therapy experience, integrate AI-driven features like real-time speech feedback, and ensure the app runs reliably across the wide range of devices found in clinical settings. You'll work closely with Product, Design, and our ML team to ship features that directly impact patient outcomes.

What you'll shape

Depending on your strengths, you’ll work on topics like:

  • Core therapy experience: Build and maintain interactive therapy modules — including evidence-based speech exercises, cognitive tasks, and multimedia content — that patients use daily
  • Modern Android development: Improve and extend our Kotlin app using Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/Flow, Hilt, and MVVM/MVI patterns.
  • Speech and AI integration: Integrate on-device + cloud speech recognition, pronunciation feedback, and ML inference (incl. offline approaches such as ExecuTorch Mobile).
  • Performance optimization: Optimize the user experience for the full range of Android devices used in clinical and home settings — from older tablets to modern phones
  • Offline-first + sync: Build robust local persistence and smooth communication with multiple cloud databases, cloud functions, and APIs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Design, and ML to translate requirements into polished, accessible UX.
  • Quality and reliability: Write clean, testable code and contribute to a culture of code review, automated testing, and continuous improvement

What sets you up for success

Must-have

  • Android expertise: 5+ years of professional Android development with Kotlin
  • Education: HTL/Bachelor/Master’s degree or comparable hands-on experience in computer science or a related field
  • Modern Android stack: Strong experience with Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Hilt/Dagger, Room, and MVVM/MVI architecture
  • AI-native workflow: Comfortable using AI tooling (Codex/Cursor/Claude Code etc.) in daily work as a productivity multiplier
  • Quality-focused: Strong grasp of modern Android UI/UX and quality-focused engineering.
  • Software Development Lifecycle: Experience with common engineering practices: Git, code reviews, architecture patterns, maintainable code.
  • Ownership: Ability to work independently, take ownership, and ship.
  • Collaboration: Comfortable working cross-functionally with Product, Design, QA, and backend teams

Nice to have

  • Apps: Successful published Android apps
  • Multi-agent fluency: You're comfortable orchestrating multiple AI agents, chaining prompts, and building workflows where AI handles the heavy lifting while you steer the outcome.
  • Tooling mindset: You actively shape your own dev environment — custom scripts, automation, MCP servers, CLI tools — and you're always looking for ways to remove friction from your workflow.
  • Performance tuning: Strong performance profiling/tuning experience across diverse devices.
  • Media and audio: Audio/media or real-time audio processing experience (Android audio APIs, playback, etc.).
  • Offline-first patterns: Experience with offline-first architectures, syncing strategies, local persistence beyond the basics.
  • Firebase & APIs: Experience with Firebase / NoSQL databases, cloud functions, and API-heavy apps.
  • Cross-platform: Experience with cross-platform or game engines/frameworks (Unity, etc.).
  • Machine Learning: Basic ML understanding and interest in shipping ML features responsibly.

Beyond your CV

  • Craft-oriented: You care about smooth animations, responsive UIs, and delightful details — even in a clinical context
  • Empathetic builder: You think about the end user — a patient recovering from a stroke, or a therapist managing 20 patients — and let that guide your decisions
  • Pragmatic problem-solver: You find the right balance between ideal architecture and shipping value fast
  • Team player: You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy sharing knowledge
