The position
As a Kotlin Developer at agap2, you take on the challenge within an international environment with a local focus. Key Responsibilities
You will work in a microservices and event-driven environment, collaborating closely with product and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with distributed systems, cares about code quality and reliability, and is comfortable operating services in production.
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Kotlin, primarily with Spring Boot.
- Build and evolve event-driven architectures using tools such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Translate business requirements into clear technical designs and well-defined user stories.
- Design and implement RESTful APIs following best practices and architectural principles.
- Develop and maintain microservice-based architectures with a focus on scalability and resilience.
- Write high-quality unit and integration tests using frameworks such as JUnit, Mockk, and Mockito.
- Ensure system observability through monitoring, logging, and alerting, and actively participate in production support.
- Work with relational and non-relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, QA, and DevOps.
What you bring to the position
- 7+ years of professional experience in backend development using Java and/or Kotlin.
- Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot.
- Solid understanding of event-driven architecture and asynchronous communication patterns (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar).
- Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
- Proven experience working with microservices architectures.
- Strong knowledge of databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar technologies.
- Experience writing and maintaining unit and integration tests.
- Familiarity with observability best practices, including monitoring, logging, and alerting.
Nice to Have
- Experience working on high-volume, business-critical systems that must remain reliable under heavy load.
- Knowledge of design-for-failure patterns, such as idempotency, retries, fallbacks, and circuit breakers.
- Experience with contract-first REST API development using OpenAPI.
- Hands-on experience debugging distributed microservice systems.
- Understanding of performance testing and experience writing performance tests using Gatling (Kotlin).
- Some experience running, monitoring, and debugging services in Kubernetes environments.
