Overview


The Head of Digital Delivery provides enterprise‑wide leadership for the organisation’s global digital and AI agenda, ensuring technology delivery is aligned to strategic priorities and enables long‑term business transformation. The role exists to shape the digital operating model, strengthen engineering and platform capabilities, and ensure that scalable, secure, and high‑performing digital solutions are delivered consistently across the network. Acting as a unifying force between business and technology leaders, the Head of Digital Delivery drives innovation, responsible AI adoption, and modern delivery practices that elevate digital maturity, enhance operational efficiency, and position the organisation to capitalise on emerging technologies.


What you’ll be doing


1. Strategy, Operating Model and Governance

  • Drive the design and execution of the global digital delivery operating model.
  • Facilitate the network-wide AI and emerging technology governance framework, connecting multidisciplinary task forces and ensuring coherence across firms and service lines.
  • Ensure Technology governance frameworks function effectively, including executive reporting, KPI dashboards, and risk/issue escalation.
  • Ensure adherence to international and BDO‑specific standards for digital and AI governance including security, responsible AI, sustainability, privacy and ethics.
  • Contribute to the global digital and AI strategy, including service line–specific digital transformation roadmaps and priorities.
  • Translate enterprise level global digital strategy into actionable, technically sound roadmaps across service lines and priority programmes.
  • Oversee global portfolio prioritisation, including build/buy/partner decisions, investment cases, and lifecycle management.


2. Digital & AI Delivery Leadership

  • Lead the technical delivery of the global digital and AI strategy, including service line– specific digital transformation roadmaps and priorities.
  • Oversee end-to-end engineering and platform delivery to ensure secure, scalable, high availability solutions aligned to enterprise architecture and quality standards.
  • Implement modern delivery approaches—agile, DevOps, CI/CD, platform development—to accelerate time‑to‑value for digital solutions.
  • Enable AI adoption across strategic initiatives, embedding responsible AI controls and ensuring compliance with emerging frameworks (e.g., EU AI Act, ISO/IEC 42001).
  • Promote AI literacy and digital competence across the enterprise.
  • Support Global service areas and key firms in developing and scaling use cases in AI and emerging tech, acting as a trusted advisor on adoption pathways, responsible AI, emerging technology, and change management.


3. People Leadership

  • Lead senior technical leaders, providing vision, coaching, performance direction and succession planning.
  • Build high‑performing cross‑functional teams (delivery, development, UX, data).
  • Promote a culture of innovation and experimentation, aligned to CPO‑style product discovery and continuous learning.
  • Foster talent development, digital dexterity, and employee enablement across the Technology function.


4. Stakeholder Management & Influence

  • Act as a senior advisor to business digital leaders, translating strategic objectives into executable delivery plans.
  • Build strong relationships with back-office functions (HR, Finance, Risk, Compliance, Security) and service line leaders.
  • Represent Technology at global steering committees, ensuring executive visibility of programme health and value realisation.
  • Influence, promote and champion digital and AI best practice across Stakeholder groups.


5. Financial & Commercial Leadership

  • Lead Technology’s investment planning for digital and AI platforms, ensuring alignment with global budget frameworks.
  • Oversee vendor delivery governance and performance, strategic partnerships, and contract management, ensuring value extraction and capability enhancement.
  • Ensure benefits realisation by embedding KPI-driven value measurement that links digital delivery to business outcomes, ROI, and transformation impact.


6. Risk, Security & Compliance

  • Ensure digital platforms and AI solutions align with enterprise cybersecurity posture and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee resilience and continuity strategies for critical digital assets.
  • Promote risk‑aware decision‑making at pace.


7. Market Intelligence & Partnerships

  • Work in partnership with the Global Strategy team to establish market scans to identify opportunity pipelines and translate them into actionable insights for firms, industries, and service lines.
  • Build and maintain an AI and emerging tech inventory across the network, facilitating discovery, visibility, and identification of gaps or overlaps.
  • Drive strategic partnerships with technology providers and vendors to strengthen capabilities and accelerate adoption.


Experience & Background


Essential

  • 10+ years delivering largescale digital transformation programmes across globally distributed organisations, ideally within top tier consulting or technology firms.
  • Proven success leading complex, multi country or multi firm digital initiatives and aligning diverse senior stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience directing cross functional IT and engineering teams, including product, architecture, data, UX, and platform operations.
  • Strong technical foundation across architecture, cloud engineering, AI, data platforms, and modern delivery practices.
  • Significant experience with strategic vendor governance, sourcing, and managing technology partner ecosystems.
  • 7+ years of product led delivery, lifecycle management, user-centred design, and portfolio governance.
  • Understanding of professional services workflows (audit, tax, advisory) and their digital transformation needs.


Technical & Market Expertise

  • Executive-level ability to translate digital and AI strategy into pragmatic roadmaps while ensuring performance, security, and regulatory alignment.
  • Deep expertise in digital platforms, data ecosystems, AI/ML delivery, cloud infrastructure, and modern engineering practices.
  • Track record modernising legacy environments and delivering cloud-native, high availability digital solutions through agile, DevOps, and data-driven delivery models.
  • Strong grasp of AI, emerging technologies, and their application within professional services, including responsible AI practices and awareness of regulatory frameworks (e.g., EU AI Act, ISO/IEC 42001, DigComp 3.0).


Strategic & Analytical Capability

  • Demonstrated success developing multiyear product and platform strategies that drive measurable business outcomes.
  • Demonstrable enterprise-level strategic leadership, with strong scenario analysis and the ability to define and deliver strategic imperatives across complex global environments.
  • Strong KPI‑driven mindset with proven experience linking digital investments to measurable business value and outcomes.


Leadership & Collaboration

  • Exceptional leader skilled in building, coaching, and developing high performing, diverse teams.
  • Influences at executive level without direct authority, navigating complex global environments and shaping enterprise-wide decisions.
  • Communicates complex technology topics clearly for senior audiences, with strong writing, presentation, and storytelling capability.
