Linux & Platform Engineer

A Global Financial firm is seeking a Linux & Platform Engineer to join their Platform and Cloud services, part of the wider Cloud Services team, looking after various services such as public/private cloud, compute (Linux/Windows) and core infra services. The team provides continuous service or support across different time zones both during the week and at weekends and implement projects and upgrades.

Responsibilities

  • Primarily provide technical leadership for RedHat Enterprise Linux OS, RHEL Clustering, and related platform services such as Satellite, Ansible
  • Build, test and deliver new services and improvement not limited to above platform services, and other cloud services as necessary
  • Provide onsite L2/L3 support to monitor and work on service restoration of platform services deployed globally when incident takes place, under Follow-the-Sun support model or provide on-call support as necessary
  • Engage with application teams throughout the lifecycle to provide reliable and scalable platform and cloud services
  • Identify opportunity to automate manual steps or areas for improvement to remediate or mitigate operational risks, and directly contribute on coding to manage the platform effectively
  • Collaboratively work with Engineering function and other IT teams to discuss and agree on the enhancement and improvement to address challenges or issues
  • Contribute on documenting operational run books & give coaching to team members as required.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge on RHEL OS 7.x,8.x, Redhat High Availability Solutions with Pacemaker
  • Hands-on and practical knowledge on RedHat Satellite, Redhat Ansible automation platform
  • Extensive experience on HP & Cisco Hardware installation, troubleshooting, firmware upgrades
  • Working experience with virtualized environment by using VMware & ESX
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues, performance degradations, and restore services
