Your role

As an Aeronautical Engineer in the Air Force, you’ll lead and manage teams to maintain aircraft structures, systems and equipment. You’ll be responsible for a wide range of aircraft, from F-35A Lightning IIs to C-27J Spartans, as well as propulsion systems, ancillary technical equipment and aviation ground combat support systems.
Your duties may include:
- Maintenance Engineering: leading a team at a maintenance unit or flying squadron to maintain and overhaul equipment and ensure safe work practices
- Engineering Management: monitoring aircraft and equipment, supervising and evaluating equipment trials, and liaising with regulatory bodies
- Project Management: managing the engineering aspects of large-scale acquisitions or maintenance projects.
As an Air Force Officer, you’ll also be trained to become an inspirational leader and mentor, equipped with highly sought-after management skills.

Salary
Upon completion of initial military and employment training, you will enjoy a salary package starting from $108,786.
Location
Following training, you may be posted to one of the major Air Force bases around Australia, such as RAAF Base Amberley, Williamtown, or Edinburgh.
Eligibility
For this role, you must be at least 17 at the time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen, and have completed or are in your final year of a Bachelor of Engineering in one of the areas listed in the position description below.
