AWS DevOps Engineer - Band of Coders

At Band of Coders, we are looking for a skilled DevOps Engineer to join our team and support an established product running on a robust AWS-based infrastructure.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in stable yet evolving environments, with ownership over deployment strategies and infrastructure reliability. It may be necessary to take care of some IT administration tasks.

About The Technical Environment

Our client infrastructure is hosted in AWS and follows largely standard cloud architecture patterns. It operates with a custom deployment strategy that includes draining and undraining a load balancer.

While the tooling stack is not particularly out of the norm, the infrastructure footprint is relatively large for the size of the business, requiring strong operational discipline and attention to scalability and reliability.

Core Stack & Tools:

AWS (EC2, Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)

Jenkins (CI/CD pipelines)

GitHub (version control & workflows)

Sentry (application monitoring & error tracking)

Datadog (observability & infrastructure monitoring)

Key Responsibilities

Manage and optimize AWS-based infrastructure.

Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.

Support and enhance the custom deployment strategy (load balancer draining/undraining).

Monitor system performance, availability, and reliability.

Troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment, and security issues.

Ensure high availability, scalability, and security best practices.

Collaborate closely with engineering teams to streamline release processes.

Required Qualifications

Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer in AWS environments.

Strong understanding of EC2, Load Balancer, networking, and cloud architecture principles.

Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.).

Hands-on experience with Jenkins and CI/CD automation.

Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Datadog, Sentry).

Solid understanding of deployment strategies and zero-downtime releases.

Experience managing medium-to-large infrastructure footprints.

Strong problem-solving skills and an ownership mindset.

Professional English proficiency.

Nice to Have

Background in scaling infrastructure for growing businesses.

Experience optimizing cost and performance in AWS.

Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments.
