The Mission: Empower the hands that build our physical world

The world is built and maintained by people in the field: technicians on wind turbines, engineers in factories, and specialists keeping our infrastructure alive. In the EU and US, we face a systemic crisis: a massive expertise gap that threatens to bring the energy transition and the broader physical economy to a halt.

At Perry, our mission is societal. We unlock the potential of the physical workforce by building the AI Field Operating System. We turn complex knowledge and paper manuals into interactive operator dialogues with AI, creating a unified platform for Safety, Quality, Training, and Asset Management.

The goal: enable live AI safety-critical video and voice guidance to technical operators in the field. If this sounds like a mission you can get behind, and a product you’d like to help build, apply below.

We are VC-funded by Revent (Berlin) and backed by angels from OpenAI and Google DeepMind. Our founders, Laurens Feenstra and Arie Kuiper, bring years of leadership experience from Google, Waymo, and McKinsey and have led VC-funded startups like BuyBay before.

Building a small and world-class team

Creating a world-class product requires a world-class team. We are intentionally building an elite, high-density unit that stays lean by design.

  • AI-Native Engineering: Work alongside our AI engineers to bridge the gap between our multi-agent system and the user.
  • Design-Led Execution: Collaborate daily with product design to ensure Perry works as intuitively for a technician in a high-voltage environment as it does for an admin in the office.
  • Founder-Led Speed: Build directly with Laurens and Arie. We move from strategic hypothesis to shipped code in hours.

The role: front end product engineer

The user experience, specifically how workers interact with AI in high-stakes environments, is the core capability that will allow us to succeed. We are looking for a top-tier engineer who understands the nuance of this challenge.

You will take the lead on the frontend development for our core product suite:

  • Perry Guide: The interactive, multimodal worker experience in the field on mobile.
  • Perry Studio: The AI-powered editor where users generate, edit and manage procedures. Think: Cursor for physical work procedures.
  • Perry Brain: Our multi-agent system (where you’ll provide a full-stack perspective).

What you can expect:

  • AI-First Development: We aren't just building AI; we use it. We expect you to actively find tools and workflows that accelerate our shipping pace, while retaining ownership over the code quality.
  • Pushing Frontend Boundaries: You’ll solve for the intersection of design, latency, motion, and UX. AI goes from “chat” to “generative UI”, and you’ll be leading this. For example this includes dynamically deciding on what components to run managing how AI "wait times" feel and how complex data is visualized simply.
  • Radical Ownership: You aren't just an employee; you are a founding-level builder helping us grow the company from the ground up.

The stack & your profile

The Tech Stack:

  • Frontend: Next.js, React (Mastery required), TypeScript, Tailwind, TanStack/Axios, Redux, Zod, Jest/Vite, Storybook, Playwright
  • AI/Backend: LangGraph, Pydantic, FastAPI, Supabase, Vercel AI SDK.
  • Models: Continuously iterating with the latest reasoning and multimodal models.

What we expect from you:

  • At least five years of engineering experience in high-paced and innovative environments (eg. other VC-funded startups). We don't necessarily require a specific degree, but we need clear proof points of your excellence.
  • Next.js and React Mastery: You’ve built and scaled complex UIs with routing, boundaries and interaction patterns in production.
  • AI-Native Mindset: You’ve worked with LLMs or agentic systems and are comfortable digging into LLM outputs and sometimes python when need be.
  • High Ambition: This is an intense, mega-rewarding journey. We want people who are ready to build a category-defining company.
  • Presence: We work 4 days a week from our office. This is currently in Amsterdam (near RAI), but we will be relocating to Utrecht. We believe high-bandwidth, in-person collaboration is essential to our mission.

Our culture & values

In previous companies we've seen how important it is to build a values-driven culture. We try to live by these values every day and often revisit them as a team.

  • Strong opinions, loosely held: Bring a hypothesis, pivot on data.
  • Disagree and commit: Speed and being 80% right is better than being late.
  • Integrity over ego: Do work you are proud of; we win as a team.
  • Be scrappy: If you hit a wall, find a ladder.

How to Apply

Don’t send us a long cover letter, just send us:

  1. Which product do you deeply admire most from an engineering perspective and why?
  2. A link to a project or code you’re proud of (React/AI, Git repo)
  3. A CV
