A growing defense technology company is seeking a Head of Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) to lead the development of next‑generation defensive flight systems. The Role

The Head of GNC will:

• Define, document, and refine GNC requirements aligned with mission and trajectory objectives.
• Develop, analyze, and validate GNC algorithms, models, and flight software.
• Lead test planning, procedure development, and execution for GNC validation.
• Conduct modeling, simulation, and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) testing.
• Oversee integration, diagnose anomalies, and ensure robust system performance.
• Define avionics and sensor requirements, including IMUs and control actuators.
• Perform mission-specific analysis and support technical input for new programs.
• Mentor engineers and foster problem-solving across mechanical, electrical, and fluid disciplines.
• Drive innovation and resolve complex technical challenges with simple, reliable solutions.

Essential Requirements

• B.S. in a relevant engineering field.
• 6+ years’ experience developing GNC systems for aircraft, spacecraft, missiles, or comparable vehicles.
• Experience delivering validated, flight-ready GNC work.
• US person status as required under export control regulations.

What Will Make You Stand Out

• M.S. or PhD in a related discipline.
• Expertise with MATLAB/Simulink and high‑level languages (C, C++, FORTRAN).
• Experience with interception control systems or hypersonic flight-control regimes.
• Proficiency in trajectory planning/optimization tools (e.g., POST2).
• Day‑of‑launch or on‑orbit flight operations experience.
• Prior leadership within small, multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong ability to reduce complex problems to elegant, robust solutions.
