About The Role
We are seeking a passionate and creative Game Designer to join our dynamic team in Redmond, WA. As part of Nintendo Software Technology, you will play a vital role in contributing to the development of engaging and innovative video games. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in game design, with experience in designing UI, levels, objects, and characters. Your responsibilities will include implementing design specifications into playable prototypes, iterating on gameplay features, and collaborating closely with senior designers and development teams to realize creative visions. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a renowned organization dedicated to creating surprise and delight for gamers worldwide. The position is hybrid, requiring regular onsite presence in Redmond, WA, following the division's schedule and guidelines.
Qualifications
- 0-2 years of experience in level design for video games or relevant field
- Understanding of interactive software methodologies, production pipelines, and Nintendo quality standards
- Proficiency with commercial 2D/3D game editors such as Unity, Unreal, or similar tools
- Basic PC skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Undergraduate degree in Game Design, Computer Science, or an equivalent field
- Studies in music, art, film, television, broadcasting, or multimedia are a plus
- Legal eligibility to work in the United States (visa sponsorship is not available)
- Implement design specifications into playable prototypes using various software tools
- Quickly revise implementations based on feedback and iterative testing
- Assist in designing prototypes to evolve concepts into more complete game features
- Maintain and refine gameplay mechanics within the game environment
- Create and maintain user-interface designs, ensuring alignment with project goals and localization needs
- Collaborate with product development personnel to gather feedback and support during the development process
- Contribute to defining the creative vision and technical specifications for assigned projects
- Write, review, and maintain detailed design documentation
- Work closely with senior team members to receive feedback and guidance
- Apply professional expertise to review, analyze, and test products to meet Nintendo’s high standards of quality and timeliness
- Competitive base pay ranging from $34 to $51 USD per hour
