Cloud AWS DevOps Lead - 12 Month Daily Rate Contract


Location: Dublin (Hybrid Working Model and one day only per week needed)


Job Description:

Our client, a well-established organisation within the financial services sector, is seeking an experienced Cloud AWS DevOps Lead to drive the evolution of their cloud infrastructure and DevOps capability, ensuring secure, scalable and resilient cloud-based operations.


Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering teams within a cloud-first environment.
  • Define and implement a target cloud architecture aligned to business strategy, scalability and cost optimisation goals.
  • Oversee the migration of legacy or hosted environments to modern AWS-based cloud platforms.
  • Establish robust production operations, ensuring high availability, resilience and performance across environments.
  • Implement proactive monitoring and observability solutions to enhance operational stability.
  • Drive infrastructure automation using Infrastructure as Code practices.
  • Collaborate closely with Development, Test, Release and Operations teams to streamline CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
  • Promote best practice cloud governance, identity and access management, and secure design principles.
  • Support the development and deployment of containerised, microservices-based applications within AWS.


Experience Required

  • Minimum 7+ years’ experience in cloud infrastructure and DevOps environments, with significant exposure to AWS.
  • Proven experience leading DevOps or SRE teams in enterprise-scale environments.
  • Strong hands-on background in Linux/Unix systems administration.
  • Demonstrated experience in cloud transformation initiatives, including migration from traditional hosted environments to AWS.
  • Practical experience with Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code tools.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, networking principles, IaaS and PaaS architectures.
  • Experience working within Agile or Scrum delivery frameworks.


Desirable Skills

  • Experience with container technologies and orchestration platforms such as Docker, EKS or ECS.
  • Familiarity with cloud security best practices, IAM frameworks and authentication mechanisms (tokens, certificates, identity federation).
  • Exposure to cost optimisation strategies within AWS environments.
  • Knowledge of observability, monitoring and incident management tooling.
  • Ability to align tooling and engineering standards across Development and DevOps teams.


Educational Requirements

  • Third level degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline.
