About Lorum
Global payments are not broken. Incentives are. Clearing has been deprioritised inside balance sheet driven institutions whose models rely on lending and interest. When liquidity takes priority over settlement, payments slow and certainty drops. The same financial institutions that distort clearing as providers are disadvantaged as users. They are forced into fragmented setups, inconsistent rails, duplicated compliance, and unpredictable timelines. Stablecoin shortcuts and treasury pooling treat symptoms at the surface, but almost no one is rebuilding the underlying infrastructure in each market.
Rebuilding clearing from the ground up
We are rebuilding clearing as its own specialist function. We act as a clearing and transaction banking partner for regulated institutions, with treasury built into the core so liquidity, settlement, and reconciliation sit in one controlled system.
Our platform unifies global and local licenses, direct central bank clearing, and domestic rails. We allow clients to open named customer accounts in every market we operate, collecting funds and paying out through a single network while retaining full ownership of their customer relationships. Market expansion becomes as simple as one correspondent relationship, not hundreds.
Why Lorum
Joining Lorum means contributing to one of the most ambitious clearing infrastructure projects in global finance. You will help shape settlement systems that perform under real regulatory standards and institutional volumes. You will build for regulated institutions that rely on precision, predictable timelines, and regulatory integrity. It is about working across currencies, markets, and supervisory frameworks to deliver reliable, final settlement.
About The Role
Role purpose
We’re looking for an experienced frontend engineer to help evolve Lorum’s client portal from a simple interface into a fully featured, enterprise-grade platform used by financial institutions and corporate clients.
You’ll design, build, and refine the front-end architecture that powers cash management, payment initiation, and liquidity visibility for clients across global markets. This role is ideal for an engineer who cares deeply about quality, reliability, and the user experience in complex financial systems, someone who can combine strong technical judgment with a product mindset.
You’ll work closely with backend engineers to create secure, elegant, and high-performing interfaces that make cross-border payments simple.
Key Responsibilities
- Help evolve our portal from a basic UI to a fully featured enterprise-grade platform used by financial institutions and corporate clients.
- Build out cash management features, including payment initiation, authorisation flows (e.g. maker/checker), balance tracking, FX, and liquidity visibility.
- Design and develop high-quality UI components using React + TypeScript, ensuring consistency, testability, and scalability.
- Collaborate with backend engineers on our Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) architecture to streamline data access and session management through Rust APIs.
- Implement client-side logging, error tracking, and diagnostics to improve visibility and debuggability across complex user journeys.
- Ensure strong attention to accessibility, usability, and performance, particularly in financial interfaces where clarity and reliability are critical.
- Work with product and design to create delightful, user-friendly workflows while maintaining security and compliance best practices.
- Play a key role in shaping frontend code quality, testing practices, and long-term architecture as part of a growing engineering team.
- Take ownership of end-to-end features, working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a fast-moving, regulated environment.
- Significant experience as a frontend or full-stack engineer, ideally in fintech, SaaS, or data-intensive product environments.
- Strong proficiency with React, TypeScript, and modern web development practices.
- Experience integrating with APIs and working within BFF or service-oriented architectures.
- Solid understanding of state management, component lifecycles, and frontend performance optimisation.
- Familiarity with testing frameworks, build pipelines, and CI/CD environments.
- Strong attention to detail, accessibility, and UX, you care about how things feel as much as how they work.
- A pragmatic mindset, you know when to refactor, when to simplify, and when to ship.
- Comfortable working in environments where speed, reliability, and design integrity matter equally.
- Background in financial or payments platforms, especially interfaces for transactions, accounts, or liquidity management.
- Experience with frontend observability (e.g. Sentry, Datadog RUM) and performance monitoring tools.
- Exposure to backend or API design (especially Rust or similar typed systems).
- Familiarity with design systems and collaboration workflows (Figma, Storybook).
- Experience contributing to internal tooling or developer-experience initiatives.
- Opportunity to travel (if applicable)
- Flexible vacation policy
- Private Healthcare
- Employee stock ownership (ESOP)
- Flexible working and autonomy
- Pay it forward days - we offer 2 annual pay it forward days where you can take time to volunteer for a charitable cause that is important to you.
- Wellness days - we believe you can only work your best when you feel your best, and we know working at Lorum is intense, so we offer 3 wellness days every quarter where you can take time to re-energise.
