Embedded Software Manager - $160,000-$200,000 base + super – Adelaide based – Permanent Full Time



Work for this great well-known IoT Australian organisation where you will get the chance to work within an innovative, transparent and high performing team environment. You will join the team as an Embedded Software Manager and are given the chance to really take ownership, drive and influence. This role is open to candidates in Adelaide (only) who is open to working 4 days per week in the office.


  • Work from office in Adelaide, 4 days per week in the office (hybrid working)
  • Open to candidates willing to relocate to Adelaide
  • Salary: $160,000-$200,000 base + super maximum
  • 5 X Embedded Engineers reporting into this person
  • 50% hands on, 50% leadership
  • MUST be technically strong


Due to an expanding team, an Embedded Software Manager role has now become available.


Key Responsibilities:-


  • Technical Stewardship & Alignment: Lead a team of talented embedded software engineers, helping them align on a single, robust path forward while ensuring diverse technical viewpoints are integrated into the final solution.
  • Team Mentorship: Serve as a coach and mentor, focusing on the professional growth of the team and fostering a collaborative environment where innovation thrives.
  • Architectural Consensus: Guide the team in architecting IoT protocols, balancing individual creativity with the need for extreme reliability and system-wide consistency.
  • Cross-Functional Bridge: Act as the primary technical voice for the software team when collaborating with cloud, network, and hardware engineers.
  • Unified Delivery: Oversee the validation and security hardening of our systems, ensuring that various technical contributions result in one seamless, high-quality product.


Key Requirements:-


  • Collaborative Leadership: Having spent 8-10+ years in the embedded software space, you are a leader who genuinely enjoys the "people" side of engineering. You have a proven ability to mentor talented technical minds, facilitate healthy debate, and build consensus across diverse architectural viewpoints.
  • The Mindset: You are a pragmatic decision-maker. You know how to listen to multiple brilliant ideas and then provide the direction needed to turn those perspectives into a single, cohesive technical strategy.
  • Technical Foundation: You hold a Bachelor's or postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, providing the theoretical depth to lead a high-performing team.
  • Proven Embedded Expertise: You bring deep, hands-on experience with bare-metal embedded development, shell scripting, and microcontroller-based systems. You are highly proficient in C/C++ and Python, and you’re comfortable leading deep-dive code reviews.
  • Lifecycle & Scale: You have navigated the full product lifecycle within a fast-paced start-up or high-growth ecosystem. You understand the balance between rapid innovation and mission-critical reliability.
  • Communication: You are skilled at building trust, navigating different communication styles, and ensuring every engineer feels empowered and aligned with the mission.
