As a New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer (m/w/x) in the field of photonics, you are the link for the successful transfer of a new product from an idea to a mass-market product in manufacturing. In addition to introducing new products, you will also ensure compliance with LEAN manufacturing principles such as 5S, DFA, DFM and Kaizen, regardless of whether you are setting up a new production machine or developing a Jig for assembling products within the manufacturing process.
- Coordinate activities for the transfer of new products into manufacturing
- Close collaboration with manufacturing, engineering, purchasing and quality as part of the project lifecycle and post release of a product
- Ensure PPAP compliance, including First Article Inspection (FAI)
- DFM and DFA analysis with manufacturing & engineering to meet LEAN manufacturing requirements
- Development and implementation of new procedures/ equipment for manufacturing
- Writing SOP and training manufacturing team according to SOP and follow-up on potential issues even post release
- Monitor process after release to verify DFA and DFM analysis as part of Kaizen activities
- Designing & manufacturing jigs and packaging designs for new products and equipment using SolidWorks, manufacturing machines and FDM printers
- University degree or technician with extensive experience
- Around 5 years of professional experience, ideally within photonics or a related high-tech environment
- German C1 and English B2
- Experience with (optical) metrology equipment, eg. Interferometer
- A solid understanding of LEAN principles (e.g., Kaizen, Muda, 5S) and a mindset focused on continuous improvement
- Positive, open-minded and collaborative personality with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Willingness to travel to other Thorlbas entities as required
