neXat COMPANY

neXat is an Internet access service provider offering innovative satellite communications services worldwide (www.nexat.be). neXat is a small multicultural company growing fast in a very competitive environment.

neXat has developed and operates a Cloud-based Service Delivery Platform (C-SDP) connected to multiple satellite teleports worldwide via a network of continental PoPs (Brussels, Singapore, Orlando,...). The same infrastructure is offered in a Platform as a Service approach to regional satellite and teleport operators.

OBJECT

neXat is looking for a Software Engineer, based in Brussels or working remotely, in charge of developing, testing and integrating new features and functionalities of the neXat platform.

The Software Engineer will be part of the neXat Research and Development Department and in particular of the Software Development team. The Software Engineer will also interface with the Product Management Team for all matters related to requirements specifications and software verification and to the neXat Customer Support Team ensuring that the developed functionalities are ready for the production environment and, on the other hand, that issues reported by the customer support team via the company ticketing system are escalated, analyzed, followed up and resolved.

We are looking for a technically curious individual who is also a quick learner interested to learn about satellite telecommunications and that beyond software development capabilities also has at least basic knowledge of IP networking and protocols.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The main tasks include:

-       Development of software components to be integrated in the neXat Service Delivery Platform in cooperation with the neXat Software Development Team

-       Testing of newly developed software functionalities to ensure they are ready to go in production

-       Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, design solutions, and deliver high-quality software products.

-       Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following best practices and coding standards.

-       Debug, troubleshoot, and optimize software applications to ensure performance, scalability, and reliability.

-       Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and mentor junior developers as needed.

-       Maintain and improve existing software systems by identifying and fixing bugs or implementing new features.

-       Document software developments and maintain such documentation

REPORTING

The Software Development Engineer will be reporting to the neXat IT Manager.

REQUIREMENTS

Education

-       University degree in Engineering, IT, or equivalent

IT and Software

-       Good knowledge of software technologies in particular Object-Oriented programming languages.

-       Knowledge of SOA, Web Services and SOAP/REST APIs.

-       A good knowledge of C#, ASP.NET, Java and Python

-       Good experience with MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server.

-       Knowledge of Javascript and Ajax is an advantage.

-       Basic knowledge of IP networking protocols (preferable CCNA)

-       Knowledge of Windows & Linux OS and Web servers such IIS and Apache

-       A good knowledge of Cybersecurity technologies and frameworks is an advantage.

-       Knowledge of Microservices Architectural Pattern and Containers (Kubernetes, Rhel OS, Alpine OS) is a clear asset

General

-       Between 2 and 3 years of professional experience.

-       Knowledge and experience in satellite communications is a clear asset.

-       Very well organised and handling precisely and rapidly, able to work under tight deadlines

-       Good communications skills both in writing and orally

-       Analytical and problem-solving oriented.

Social

-       Able to work in a small multi-cultural team, Team player.

Languages

-       Excellent English including writing skills for reporting/documentation.

-       French and other languages are an asset.

LOCATION

The job position is to be based in Brussels, Belgium but teleworking is possible. Travels worldwide are also required.

CONTRACT

Permanent – 38h/week basis – 20 days of holidays + 10 official holidays, or long-term consultancy based on 200/220 days per year.
