We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist who will play a key role in supporting our leadership and staff across a range of strategic and operational HR functions. This position focuses on occupational health, leave management, labour relations, recruitment, performance management, policy development, and return-to-work planning. The successful candidate will also act as a primary liaison with external partners and contribute to broader organizational initiatives that promote a healthy, safe, and engaged workforce.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR & Decision Support
- Provide guidance on performance management, employee relations, and attendance support.
- Interpret and apply collective agreements and internal policies.
- Participate in compensation reviews, wellness initiatives, and HR projects.
- Lead or support internal investigations and make recommendations based on findings.
- Support organizational quality improvement planning and reporting.
Occupational Health & Leave Management
- Oversee case management for occupational and non-occupational leaves.
- Liaise with WSIB and other third parties to coordinate return-to-work and modified work plans.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and internal protocols.
Labour Relations & Collective Agreements
- Participate in labour-management meetings, grievance handling, and contract negotiations.
- Maintain collaborative relationships with union representatives.
Policy & Process Development
- Contribute to the creation and updating of HR policies and workflows.
- Assist with strategic HR planning and continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications
- Degree in Human Resources Management or a related field
- CHRP or CHRL designation (or actively working toward it)
- 2–3 years of HR experience in a unionized healthcare environment
- Proven knowledge of labour relations, disability management, HR analytics, and collective agreement administration
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
