Torus Talent is recruiting for a Senior System Administrator on behalf of our rapidly growing client. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic IT services provider that specializes in cybersecurity, system architecture, and managed services.
PLEASE NOTE: This role is based in Vancouver and requires 2 days per week in the office. Candidates outside of the Greater Vancouver area WILL NOT be considered.
About the Role:
The Senior System Administrator will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing IT infrastructure, implementing robust security measures, and troubleshooting complex issues. Reporting to the Managed Services Senior Lead, this role requires exceptional technical expertise, a proactive mindset, and the ability to handle critical IT challenges. While the position does not involve regular on-call duties, you may be contacted for escalations requiring your expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure optimal system performance by planning, testing, and executing system upgrades.
- Manage and optimize enterprise-level IT systems and networks, ensuring high availability and security.
- Utilize Azure cloud services and Hybrid Azure AD for seamless integration of on-premises and cloud environments.
- Administer Group Policy Objects (GPO) and Intune Policies for efficient configuration management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve escalated technical issues, including Microsoft core business applications and operating systems.
- Oversee backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions to safeguard critical data.
- Lead and contribute to IT projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide clear, effective communication to clients and colleagues.
- Stay updated on the latest technology trends and industry best practices.
- Participate in team and client meetings, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Respond to emergency situations as needed, ensuring business continuity outside of standard working hours.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience in system administration, managing enterprise-level IT environments.
- Proficiency in Windows Server, Linux, and UNIX operating systems.
- Expertise in Microsoft Azure cloud services and security best practices.
- Strong networking knowledge, including firewall management and network protocols.
- Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation.
- Ability to implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving technical issues efficiently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Industry certifications such as Microsoft 365/Azure Role-Based Certifications, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) are highly desirable.
