We are recruiting on behalf of a leading organization in the natural resources and manufacturing industry that is seeking a skilled and motivated Network Administrator to join its dynamic IT team. This intermediate-level role is critical to maintaining, optimizing, and securing a complex enterprise network environment.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in network administration, hands-on experience across modern networking technologies, and a passion for staying current with industry best practices. This role can be based in Quesnel, BC or Vancouver, BC.
As a key member of the IT team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, reliability, performance, and security of the organization’s network infrastructure, while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
What You’ll Do
Network Infrastructure Management
- Manage and maintain core and site network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and related network devices
- Design, implement, and optimize network topologies to meet evolving business needs
- Manage and optimize SD-WAN infrastructure to ensure reliable, efficient connectivity across all locations
- Troubleshoot complex network issues and implement solutions to maintain availability and performance
- Develop, implement, and maintain network standards and best practices
Wireless Network Administration
- Configure, maintain, and optimize enterprise Wi-Fi infrastructure
- Conduct site surveys and implement improvements to enhance wireless coverage and performance
Network Security
- Manage and configure firewalls, including advanced features of Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW)
- Implement and maintain Zero Trust architectures, including Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solutions
- Configure and manage secure remote access technologies for remote and hybrid users
Load Balancing & Traffic Management
- Configure and maintain load balancers to improve application availability and performance
- Implement traffic management policies to ensure efficient use of network resources
Monitoring & Maintenance
- Implement and manage network performance and health monitoring solutions
- Develop and execute patch management processes to maintain security and stability
- Perform regular network audits and implement improvements based on findings
Documentation & Process Improvement
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, topologies, and processes
- Contribute to the development and refinement of network policies, procedures, and standards
What You Bring
- Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in network administration within enterprise environments
- Strong hands-on experience with SD-WAN technologies and implementations
- Solid understanding of networking protocols and technologies (BGP, OSPF, TCP/IP, VLANs, LACP, NAT, VPNs, etc.)
- Knowledge of physical network solutions (copper, fiber, radio, cellular, satellite, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with network security technologies, including firewalls, IPS/IDS, WAF, and SASE
- Familiarity with Zero Trust principles and real-world implementation
- Experience with enterprise wireless networking and best practices
- Understanding of load balancing concepts and technologies
- Proficiency with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to perform under pressure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Additional Skills (Highly Desired)
- Experience with Palo Alto, Fortinet, Zscaler, Cisco, and Aruba technologies
- Familiarity with cloud networking concepts (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience with automation and scripting for network management (Python, Ansible, etc.)
- Relevant certifications (CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSE, or similar)
- Experience with network virtualization technologies
