Location: New York City (Hybrid | 2-3 days in office)

Salary: $200,000 - $300,000 + Equity

I’m working with a fast-growing, VC-backed startup building an AI platform that automates complex insurance workflows and financial operations. The company is tackling a massive global market and is hiring a Founding Engineer to help build the product and technical foundation as they scale.

This role is ideal for a Software Engineer who thrives in a startup environment - someone comfortable with ambiguity, shipping fast, and taking real ownership.

As a Founding Engineer, you’ll work directly with the founder and engineering leadership, building core systems and shipping production features daily.

What you’ll do

• Join as a Founding Software Engineer in a high-growth AI startup

• Build core backend systems using Python and Django

• Operate as a backend-leaning Software Engineer (≈70% backend)

• Contribute across the stack with React where needed

• Ship features quickly in a fast-moving startup team

• Help shape architecture, product direction, and engineering culture

What they’re looking for

• 3–7 years experience as a Software Engineer

• Strong backend development using Python

• Experience working in a startup or early-stage environment - those with experience in an AI native product company are highly desirable!

• Engineers who want Founding Engineer level ownership

• Comfortable shipping quickly and building in Python

• Based in NYC or willing to relocate
