Job Description

What we expect you to do:

  • Communicate with product managers to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Design and develop responsive web applications using Next.js and robust backend services using Node.js.
  • Architect and maintain data structures using PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
  • Implement AI-augmented engineering practices using tools like Cursor, Claude Code, and Anti-gravity to accelerate development.
  • Contribute to our cloud infrastructure strategy within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) ecosystem.
  • Maintain a security-first approach in all development tasks, ensuring data integrity.
  • Create effective and quality internal dashboards for presenting relocation data.
  • Share complex technical ideas clearly with a global, multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

What helps you to succeed in this role:

  • 2+ years of industry experience in full-stack web development.
  • Strong proficiency in Node.js and the Next.js/React ecosystem.
  • Must-have: Deep experience with AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, and Anti-gravity).
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
  • Cloud Knowledge: Solid understanding of GCP (Kubernetes and Cloud Functions are a plus).
  • Good to have: Familiarity with Python for backend scripting or automation.
  • A solid understanding of web security best practices.

  • The AI Workflow: Which AI-augmented tool (Cursor, Claude Code, or Anti-gravity) is currently the backbone of your development process? Describe a specific instance in which it helped you solve a complex logic problem that would have taken hours to solve manually.
  • Product Curiosity: We believe in "starting with why." If you were asked to build a feature that automates document verification for a new country, what are the first three questions you would ask the Product Manager before writing a single line of code?
  • The Tech Stack: We utilize both PostgreSQL and MongoDB. Tell us about a time you had to decide between a relational and a non-relational database. Looking back, was it the right choice for the project’s scale?
  • Security-First Mindset: AI tools are incredibly fast, but they can occasionally suggest insecure patterns. How do you integrate security checks (like protecting against OWASP vulnerabilities or handling secrets) into your AI-augmented workflow?
  • GCP & Infrastructure: Beyond just deploying code, how have you interacted with the Google Cloud Platform ecosystem? Whether it’s Kubernetes, Cloud Functions, or Storage, we’d love to hear about your hands-on experience with these technologies.
  • Continuous Learning: The AI engineering landscape changes almost weekly. What is one specific technical concept, tool, or library you’ve taught yourself in the last 30 days out of pure curiosity?
  • The "Team" Factor: At Jobbatical, we succeed or fail as a team. Describe a situation where you had to simplify a complex technical architecture so that a non-technical teammate (e.g., a Legal or Relocation specialist) could understand the impact on our users.
