Full-timeProject Management, Strategy/Planning +1

Be part of one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects. Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first of the UK’s next generation nuclear power stations, delivering 3.3GW of low-carbon electricity. As Assistant Project Manager, you will directly support the delivery of major contracts on a project of national importance.

Reporting to a Project Manager within the HPC Project Directorate, you will support the full lifecycle delivery of assigned contracts or work packages — from engineering and procurement through to construction and handover.

You will work across multidisciplinary teams including commercial, procurement, engineering, construction, project controls, operations and safety to ensure delivery in line with schedule, cost, quality and safety requirements.

Your Impact

  • Support the Project Manager in delivering engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction and handover activities across assigned contracts.
  • Coordinate interfaces between engineering, construction, commercial and project controls teams to maintain alignment.
  • Track and update the overall planning schedule and detailed workstream schedules.
  • Contribute to document control processes and maintain an auditable archive of key project decisions.
  • Assist in managing the List of Deliverables (LOD) and monitor performance using Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.
  • Support preparation of budget justifications, internal approvals and project board documentation.
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings and record actions, risks and commitments.
  • Ensure compliance with approved procedures and wider programme governance requirements.
  • Assist Technical Contract Leads in coordinating with suppliers and monitoring contract performance.
  • Facilitate effective communication across the Project Delivery Team to ensure safe, timely and cost-controlled delivery.

What You Bring

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, confident engaging with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working in complex, multidisciplinary project environments.
  • Analytical capability, including budget analysis and forecasting.
  • The ability to perform under pressure in deadline-driven settings.
  • A degree in engineering, construction or a related field (desirable but not essential).
