The Role
The Data Expert will play a key role in enabling a strong, data‑driven culture across Americas with a special focus on North America.
This role acts as a trusted technical partner for Business teams and Technology teams, combining deep data expertise with strong communication and relationship-building skills. The Data Expert is expected to translate business needs into scalable, governed data solutions, while also influencing and guiding stakeholders on best data practices.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working close to the technology stack, is passionate about data foundations, and naturally builds strong, approachable relationships across diverse, global teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for Business stakeholders and the xOPS CD Data Foundation, providing expert guidance on data solutions and architecture.
- Partner closely with Business teams to understand their analytical needs, translating them into robust, scalable data models and pipelines.
- Drive the adoption of Unilever’s data strategy, governance standards, and platform capabilities across North America.
- Design, develop, and evolve data models within the Market Data Lake, ensuring quality, reusability, and alignment with enterprise standards.
- Lead and actively contribute to Data Ingestion, Data Catalog, and Data Governance activities for the region.
- Collaborate with regional and global technical teams to define and continuously improve the operating model, ways of working, and technical standards.
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with key stakeholders across Business, Data, and Technology, acting as an approachable and reliable partner.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve data quality, usability, and analytics enablement, influencing stakeholders through data-driven insights.
Key Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Actuarial Science, or related fields.
- Experience in Data & Analytics roles (e.g., Data Analyst, Data Engineer, Data Scientist, or similar).
- Experience working on enterprise‑scale data platforms and analytics solutions.
- Strong knowledge of Azure data technologies, including:
- Azure Data Factory
- Azure Databricks
- Data Lake
- Azure Logic Apps
- SQL Server
- Power BI
- Solid understanding of Data Quality and Data Governance principles.
- Programming experience in Python and Scala (desirable).
- Advanced English proficiency (mandatory).
- Experience leading data initiatives or supporting global or regional data products.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Knowledge of Unilever’s Medallion Architecture.
- Experience working in global, matrixed organizations.
