About The Role

Tyro are now looking to welcome an experienced Software Engineer to be a member of our Engineering team! This team is at the heart of our payments ecosystem - building and operating our acquiring gateway and delivering seamless POS and eCommerce integrations.

We employ Agile methods, and you’ll work in a collaborative team. As a key member of the development team, you will work closely with designers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define and execute on our vision and values.

What You'll Do

  • Be Involved throughout the whole delivery life cycle, from inception to production, through to planning, development and testing, contributing at every stage
  • Translate your technical skills to influence other developers, product managers and senior managers to ensure the team understands the Tyro vision
  • Develop high performance features, services and algorithms
  • Experiment with new technologies and AI. We're always open to trialling something new here

What You'll Bring

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 4+ years of experience in software development within a professional environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java and/or Kotlin, building and maintaining production-ready applications.
  • Experience with Cloud-based development and DevOps practices (AWS, ECR, S3, SQS AND SNS etc)
  • Solid experience writing and optimising SQL queries
  • A strong foundation in software engineering best practices, including writing clean, testable, and maintainable code, applying design patterns, and contributing to code reviews.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows using tools such as GitHub, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and contribute to a shared engineering vision.
