About The Role
Tyro are now looking to welcome an experienced Software Engineer to be a member of our Engineering team! This team is at the heart of our payments ecosystem - building and operating our acquiring gateway and delivering seamless POS and eCommerce integrations.
We employ Agile methods, and you’ll work in a collaborative team. As a key member of the development team, you will work closely with designers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define and execute on our vision and values.

About The Role
Tyro are now looking to welcome an experienced Software Engineer to be a member of our Engineering team! This team is at the heart of our payments ecosystem - building and operating our acquiring gateway and delivering seamless POS and eCommerce integrations.
We employ Agile methods, and you’ll work in a collaborative team. As a key member of the development team, you will work closely with designers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define and execute on our vision and values.
What You'll Do
- Be Involved throughout the whole delivery life cycle, from inception to production, through to planning, development and testing, contributing at every stage
- Translate your technical skills to influence other developers, product managers and senior managers to ensure the team understands the Tyro vision
- Develop high performance features, services and algorithms
- Experiment with new technologies and AI. We're always open to trialling something new here
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- 4+ years of experience in software development within a professional environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and/or Kotlin, building and maintaining production-ready applications.
- Experience with Cloud-based development and DevOps practices (AWS, ECR, S3, SQS AND SNS etc)
- Solid experience writing and optimising SQL queries
- A strong foundation in software engineering best practices, including writing clean, testable, and maintainable code, applying design patterns, and contributing to code reviews.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows using tools such as GitHub, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and contribute to a shared engineering vision.
