What does a Freelance Senior Digital Project Manager do at WPP Production?

Freelance Senior Project Managers own the end-to-end project management of projects. They are responsible for intake, delivering a completed project on time and to specification. Freelance Senior Project Managers must demonstrate a good understanding of project management tools and best-practice methodology, and the flexibility to lead a diverse and dynamic team to deliver balanced integrated solutions. The Senior Project Manager is everyone's point person for requests they are assigned to. Team members rely on them for everything they need to know about a project: what to expect, what to do next, and to find out where they need to be. Senior Project Managers relay information about the timing, scope, budgets, resources, and changes to the project plan. This role will be interacting directly with the onsite team based in NYC and working on projects with this team on Eastern Standard Time.

The successful candidate will use their superior problem-solving skills and have a desire to be strategic and always striving for improvement. They will have a passion for digital marketing and creative development.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Communication

  • The key day-to-day project contact for a variety of stakeholders both internal and client
  • Possesses experience in understanding client satisfaction level - facilitates the sharing of client feedback with the team and management; sensitive to the client's needs and understands the goal of the campaigns they are assigned to manage
  • Takes accountability to ensure that all team members are aware of timelines and deliverables
  • Communicating with onshore (NYC) team, both internal and external clients to coordinate work across multiple disciplines to meet the needs of the teams.

Collaboration

  • Collaborates with the NYC-based operations team and both internal and external stakeholders to establish and manage clear frameworks and deadlines for requests.
  • Leads partnerships with the client services, project management, production and team leads across channels to ensure a smooth process, proper resource allocation, and a superior end result
  • Ensures team members feel personal accountability for deliverables and projects, engaging in all aspects of team assignments driving towards progress, actions, and results
  • Develops and maintains high-level of team effectiveness (trust, communication, collaboration, productivity diversity and engagement)
  • Manage an array of medium to large sized projects independently, from initiation through completion
  • Serve as the expert on integrated marketing campaigns, working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Possesses an in-depth understanding of project management techniques and brings process innovation in how we manage our engagements
  • Manages client objectives, expectations, deliverables, and timelines and communicating changes/directions to team members
  • Keeps projects on track through clear management in PM tools, issue tracking, status reports, and meeting notes
  • Participates actively and can knowledgeably articulate status internally or during client interactions
  • Influences the efficiency and quality of work, advocating and helping to influence stakeholders for better ways of working

Task and Resource Management

  • Works with interdisciplinary teams of creative technologists to define and develop scopes and estimates of projects (goals, deliverables, schedule), helping to translate creative concepts into clear sets of deliverables with proper staffing
  • Owns project tracking of all ongoing costs (where applicable) throughout project lifecycle, reconciles estimates to actuals on all projects, and resolution of budget discrepancies between disciplines, vendors, and clients

Risk Management

  • Focuses on delivering great work and proactively identifies barriers to creating great work and works to remove them, when applicable, raises larger issues to senior management

Daily Tasks

  • Liaises with clients/agencies/suppliers to obtain schedules, briefs, assets, technical specifications
  • Manages intake on incoming requests
  • Develops and maintains scopes, timelines and budgets in partnership with internal partners
  • Manages tasks in Monday.com and translates requests into Workfront platform
  • Manages status documents, agendas, contact reports, trackers and day to day communication with the team
  • Kicking off large projects and scheduling meetings for alignment
  • Keeping all teams informed of changes to requests, timelines, etc.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of project management experience in an interactive or integrated agency or similar environment
  • Experience in managing workflows across creative development, content production, technology, quality assurance testing and marketing methodologies
  • A professional and approachable demeanor, and the ability to thrive in the dynamic highly matrixed environment
  • Ability to manage complex projects, demonstrating ability to deliver on time and on budget
  • Demonstrates an ability to solve problems with the solution that works for all stakeholders without compromising the quality of the deliverables or the project
  • Accountable and calm, confident presence
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Natural and effective collaborator
  • Proficiency with Google Suite, Workfront, Monday.com, Slack
  • Good to have: Experience in design programs and ability to QC and review creative assets
