About the Role
The IT Applications team of a prominent federal organization manages a significant portfolio of applications. These systems have been developed in recent years to support the core mission of the organization's unemployment fund.
A large portion of these applications is developed in RPG on our AS400 system. These applications require regular updates to comply with regulatory changes and to implement new features for our members. To support this ongoing work, we are seeking a motivated and experienced RPG Developer to join our team.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in application evolution projects in collaboration with business analysts.
- Maintain and support existing applications.
- Translate functional specifications into technical solutions, taking the existing system landscape into account.
- Work according to standard specifications and methodologies to ensure the accuracy and full understanding of business requirements.
- Review and analyze change requests.
- Ensure the completion of certain periodic IT tasks.
- Collaborate effectively within a development team.
- Apply and promote best practices in qualitative development methods.
Candidate Profile
- Experience: Several years of proven experience in a comparable development role.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge and solid experience in RPG development (RPG IV, RPG ILE, and RPG ILE Free Format).
- Good knowledge of SQL.
- Good knowledge of DB2.
- Highly Valued: Very good knowledge of the IBM Power Platform (iSeries).
- Valued: Good knowledge of CL.

- A strong team player.
- Ability to work autonomously and prioritize effectively.
- Flexible in managing schedules while maintaining a strong focus on meeting deadlines.
- Motivated and proactive.
- Views change as an essential part of organizational growth.
- Languages:
- Mastery of one of the two national languages (Dutch or French).
- Ability to understand the other national language.
- Knowledge of English is an advantage.
