We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to join a product-focused team building modern web experiences within a fast-growing technology company operating internationally. This team plays a key role in delivering intuitive, high-quality digital experiences that support business customers and their end users.

You’ll work in a collaborative, agile environment where engineers contribute directly to product decisions and continuously improve development practices.

Location: Remote within the Netherlands (Amsterdam region or within commuting distance).

Salary: 70.000-80.000 EUR

What You’ll Do as a Backend Engineer

• Develop and deploy high-quality web applications focused on usability and performance.
• Contribute to continuous integration and delivery practices to enable efficient releases.
• Make sound technical decisions in evolving environments, balancing design quality with maintainability.
• Build scalable, reusable solutions that reduce technical debt over time.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and product stakeholders to deliver polished user experiences.
• Contribute to and improve an established codebase, adding customer-facing functionality.
• Participate in architectural and technical design discussions.
• Implement and maintain testing practices that support reliability and quality standards.

What You’ll Bring

• 3+ years of experience building modern web applications using ReactJS or comparable frameworks.
• Strong fundamentals in modern JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Hands-on experience with at least one contemporary frontend framework (e.g., React or similar).
• Understanding of reusable component design and consistent UI architecture.
• Experience integrating APIs and working with JSON-based data structures.
• Familiarity with frontend testing practices (unit or component-level testing).
• Experience collaborating within existing codebases using Git workflows (pull requests, code reviews).
• Exposure to Agile or Scrum methodologies.

Nice to Have

• Experience with TypeScript and modern frontend tooling (bundlers, linters, package managers).
• Familiarity with frontend testing frameworks such as Jest, Testing Library, or Cypress.
• Knowledge of accessibility, performance optimization, and responsive design principles.
• Experience with state management patterns or libraries.
• Close collaboration experience with designers, translating design systems into production-ready interfaces.
• Basic backend exposure (e.g., Python, RESTful APIs).
• Experience with containerized development environments (e.g., Docker).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines or automated frontend deployment workflows.
