About the vacancy:
Our Software Development Team develops robust, reliable, and intuitive software and systems. As such, the team provides the foundation for delivering state-of-the-art image analysis services to our customers. Our Software Engineers bring deep technical expertise and continuously challenge design practices to ensure we deliver the highest quality to our users.
In this role, you will be ultimately accountable for the technical quality of a specific segment of our software solutions. You will work within a Scrum team, collaborating closely with other software teams and our Deep Learning department. While the majority of your time will be spent programming in modern C++, you will also occasionally develop supporting scripts. Experience with Python, CMake, Docker, and/or Jenkins is considered a strong plus.
In this role you will
· Design and develop new software features, maintain and optimize existing software, validate and verify existing and new software solutions
· Define and execute the planning for these software releases with solid work estimates and planning and communicate closely with Product Management, Software engineers and Quality Assurance team
· Point of contact for the technical quality of a segment of Thirona software solutions
· Manage the content of new software releases for this segment
· Evaluate and identify new technologies for implementation
· Guide the Software Engineers in performing their job
· Identify and address possible issues related to product safety, information security and personal data (privacy) according to Thirona’s policies and procedures
· Advocate for continuous improvements to the quality, security and performance of Thirona products, software and systems
Your profile
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering or equivalent education
· 4+ years experience as software engineer in a professional setting
· Experience with C++
· Knowledge of Python, CMake, Docker and/or Jenkins is a plus
· Experience with software development under EU-MDR and/or FDA medical device regulations is a plus
· Strong accountability and willingness to challenge the status quo
· A strong ability to remain flexible and effective within a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment
· A proactive and confident decision-maker who provides clarity by identifying and inquiring about critical details
· Pragmatic and adopting a user-oriented mentality both towards internal and external users.
· Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to thrive in a cross-functional, collaborative environment.
· A desire to improve skills is essential

Practical information
• Your primary workplace will be our office in Nijmegen
• We offer a hybrid working model, with up to 40% of your working time from home
• You can receive up to 8 weeks per year to work remotely or from abroad
• This position is preferably full-time; part-time employment can be discussed
• You will receive 27 vacation days per year, based on a 40-hour contract
• In addition, you will receive 8% holiday allowance, paid annually in May
• We provide an 8% pension contribution and offer access to a flexible pension scheme
• You are expected to live within approximately one hour travel distance from Nijmegen
• An EU passport or a valid EU work permit is required for this position
• A reference check may be part of the recruitment process
