Senior Network Engineer (Level 3 Support)

Contract role


Role Summary


The Senior Network Engineer will provide day-to-day operational support for the organization’s global data network infrastructure. This role serves as the Level 3 escalation point for complex network incidents and is responsible for designing, deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise LAN/WAN environments. The engineer will ensure network reliability, performance, and security while collaborating with internal teams, vendors, and customers.


Key Responsibilities


Network Design & Implementation

  • Design, develop, and deploy LAN/WAN network infrastructure.
  • Configure and install network devices and services including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and QoS.
  • Implement operational and project-related network changes in coordination with project teams.


Network Operations & Support

  • Provide Level 3 troubleshooting and support for all LAN/WAN alerts and incidents.
  • Identify and resolve network issues quickly to minimize downtime.
  • Monitor network performance to ensure availability, reliability, and optimal operation.
  • Perform system upgrades, patches, service packs, and security updates.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.


Monitoring & Maintenance

  • Maintain monitoring and reporting systems.
  • Track resource utilization, performance trends, and capacity planning.
  • Ensure compliance with configuration and change management policies.


Security & Compliance

  • Implement network security tools, policies, and procedures in collaboration with the security team.
  • Configure and troubleshoot network security solutions including VPNs, AAA, and firewalls.


Documentation & Collaboration

  • Create and maintain documentation for network systems and infrastructure.
  • Work closely with vendors, internal IT teams, and offshore teams to resolve issues.
  • Participate in change management and incident management meetings.
  • Provide regular status updates and administrative reporting.


Required Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of networking experience.
  • CCNP certification required.
  • Experience supporting large enterprise or global network environments.


Technical Skills

Networking & Troubleshooting

  • Advanced network troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Troubleshooting routing loops, asymmetric routing, and STP loop issues.
  • Experience analyzing network performance metrics and device outputs.


Routing & Switching

  • Routing protocols: EIGRP, OSPF, BGP
  • LAN switching: VLAN, VTP, STP, EtherChannel
  • QoS configuration


WAN Technologies

  • MPLS, Metro Ethernet
  • WAN acceleration and optimization technologies


Network Security

  • Cisco ASA, IPS
  • IPSec / SSL VPN
  • AAA, TACACS+, RADIUS
  • Next-generation firewalls (Cisco, Fortinet)


Wireless & Remote Access

  • Cisco ISE
  • Wireless networks
  • Cisco AnyConnect


Infrastructure & Hardware

  • Cisco Catalyst and Nexus 7K / 9K switches
  • Cisco routers (3900 / 4400 series)
  • Cisco IOS configuration and troubleshooting


Application & Protocol Support

  • TCP/IP protocol suite
  • Application protocols: HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SMTP, SNMP, SSL
  • Application environments such as SAP, Citrix, and enterprise portals


Modern Networking & Cloud

  • SD-WAN technologies (Silver Peak, VeloCloud)
  • Network segmentation solutions (TrustSec, Tetration, Illumio)
  • Cloud networking experience in AWS, Azure, or GCP (preferred)
  • Cloud security services such as Zscaler and Cisco Umbrella
