About Us

We sell premium solar-powered security cameras to customers across North America. Our customers are cabin owners, ranchers, and property managers who need reliable security in remote, off-grid locations.

Our products are premium — $300-500 per camera. Our website needs to match. Right now, it doesn’t. That’s why we’re hiring you.

The Role

You’ll be our sole designer — responsible for every visual experience across the website, from landing pages to product pages to email templates. You design it, someone else builds it. This is pure design, not development.

You’ll work closely with our Conversion Copywriter and report to the Head of Growth.

Our customers are 45-65 year old property owners. They’re practical, skeptical, and not tech-savvy. They need to trust this brand within 3 seconds of landing on the page. Your job is to make that happen through design.

Responsibilities

  • Design high-converting landing pages for product launches
  • Design and maintain product pages across the e-commerce store
  • Optimize the full website experience across desktop, tablet, and mobile
  • Create email templates and design systems for marketing campaigns
  • Design ad creatives for Meta, Google, and YouTube campaigns
  • A/B test design variants for landing pages, product pages, and CTAs
  • Build and maintain a design system and component library for consistency
  • Study premium brands and apply their design principles to our store
  • Collaborate with the Conversion Copywriter to ensure copy and design work together
  • Design comparison pages, FAQ layouts, and trust-building sections
  • Optimize visual hierarchy so the most important information gets seen first
  • Ensure every page builds trust for a skeptical, non-technical buyer

Requirements

  • 4+ years of UX/UI design experience with a focus on e-commerce or DTC
  • Portfolio that demonstrates premium design sensibility — clean, confident, trustworthy
  • Expert-level proficiency in Figma
  • Deep understanding of responsive design across desktop, tablet, and mobile
  • Experience with conversion optimization and A/B testing
  • Strong understanding of visual hierarchy, typography, and whitespace
  • Self-directed — you identify problems and propose solutions, not wait for instructions
  • Detail-obsessed — pixel-level precision, consistent spacing, nothing overlooked
  • Comfortable receiving direct feedback and iterating quickly
  • Reliable internet and available for 40 hours/week
  • Comfortable with time tracking software (Hubstaff)

Our Stance on AI

We use AI tools ourselves and we’re fine with designers using AI for ideation, moodboards, or workflow acceleration. But the final design must be yours. We’re hiring you for your eye, your judgment, and your ability to create designs that build trust with real customers. If your portfolio looks like Midjourney outputs or generic UI kits, this isn’t the right fit.

You’ll Succeed in This Role If

  • Your portfolio makes you want to buy whatever the brand is selling
  • You think about users first — their fears, their questions, where their eyes go
  • You instinctively know the difference between “clean” and “premium”
  • You design for conversion, not just aesthetics
  • You can take feedback, iterate quickly, and not take it personally
  • You’ve designed for non-technical audiences before — older demographics, practical buyers
  • You obsess over details that most people don’t notice

This Role Is Not For You If

  • Your portfolio is mostly SaaS dashboards or mobile apps
  • You think “premium” means adding animations, gradients, or dark mode
  • You need pixel-perfect mockups from someone else before you can start
  • You design for other designers, not real customers
  • You’ve never designed an e-commerce product page or landing page
  • You’re not comfortable designing for mobile as a primary experience

Our Hiring Process

We respect your time. Here’s exactly how this works:

  • Quick application (2 minutes)
  • Short design audit questionnaire (10 minutes)
  • Paid design test with Loom walkthrough for shortlisted candidates ($40 + $60 bonus if hired)
  • 1-hour interview
  • Decision within 48 hours of interview

Compensation: $2,500-4,000 USD/month
