Junior SOC Analyst

Role Overview:

  • Location: Farnborough/5 days on site due to highly sensitive projects
  • Package: £40,000- £45,000pa & benefits
  • Industry: Defence & Security
  • Shift Pattern: The shift pattern will be 4 days on, 4 days off, with a 25% salary increase whilst on shift.


What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Monitoring systems for security alerts, intrusions, and suspicious activity
  • Responding to incidents using established playbooks and processes
  • Escalating more complex threats to Tier 2 Incident Response teams
  • Supporting the review and improvement of existing security controls
  • Triaging vulnerability scan results and feeding findings back to technical teams
  • Reviewing secure configurations and highlighting areas for remediation
  • Producing regular service and security reports for stakeholders
  • Sharing ideas to enhance SOC performance and processes
  • Keeping up to date with emerging cyber threats and industry trends
  • Working shifts as part of a 24/7 SOC operation


Main Skills Needed:

  • Due to the nature of projects, candidates MUST hold an active Security Clearance.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a SOC Analyst.
  • A qualification or degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Networking, or a related field
  • Certifications such as CompTIA, ISACA or technical credentials in cloud, SIEM, or vulnerability management (desirable)
  • Understanding of core security principles, including CIA and risk management
  • Awareness of common threats such as phishing and ransomware
  • Exposure to cloud concepts and modern security environments
  • Interest in areas such as IDAM, JML processes, security awareness and information classification
  • A proactive mindset with a genuine desire to build a career in cyber security
