Full-Stack Software Development Engineer
Melbourne | Full-time | Early-Career Level - Multiple Opportunities
Our Client:
UCentric are exclusively partnering with a Melbourne-based technology business as they expand their engineering capability following a key stage in platform delivery and rollout. This organisation is now focused on strengthening its engineering team to support product feature delivery, production readiness and ongoing operational support. As a result, they are looking to hire early-career Full-Stack Software Development Engineers who can contribute across both backend and frontend development in a hands-on, delivery-focused environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 1–2 years of experience who has strong Computer Science foundations, enjoys building quality software and wants to grow in an environment that values learning, ownership and engineering excellence. It is also a particularly exciting opportunity for engineers who want to deepen their exposure to AI applications, large language models, and the challenges of getting modern software and AI-enabled products into production.
The Opportunity:
In this role, you will contribute to the development of product features within a full-stack application environment, working across both backend and frontend components. You will be part of a team focused on shipping software at pace, maintaining production quality and supporting applications as they move into and operate within live environments.
What makes this role especially compelling is the breadth of learning available. The business is operating in an environment where engineers need to think beyond feature delivery alone. There is strong relevance to AI-enabled applications, large language model concepts, modern software architecture and production-readiness, making this a valuable opportunity for someone who wants to build strong foundations while gaining exposure to some of the most important shifts happening in software engineering today.
The business is looking for someone who is not only technically capable, but also brings the right attitude. They value humility, curiosity, willingness to learn and a genuine care for building quality, production-grade software.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and enhance product features across frontend and backend systems
• Write clean, testable and maintainable code
• Contribute to sprint-based delivery cycles with a strong focus on shipping and continuous improvement
• Support the productionisation of applications and contribute to production readiness
• Build with an awareness of scalability, reliability and operational support requirements
• Participate in production support and operational ownership, including on-call or pager-style support where required
• Collaborate with peers to improve code quality, delivery standards and team effectiveness
• Continue developing capability across software engineering, DevOps, AI-related technologies and adjacent modern engineering practices
About You:
• You are early in your career with approximately 1–2 years of software development experience
• Strong Computer Science or software engineering fundamentals
• Exposure to both backend and frontend development
• An interest in building across the full stack rather than specialising too narrowly
• Some exposure to DevOps concepts, production systems or modern engineering environments
• Curiosity about AI applications, large language models and how modern software products are brought into production
• A mindset focused on learning, ownership and continuous improvement
This role would suit a solid feature engineer who enjoys contributing to real product delivery and is excited by the opportunity to learn more about AI-enabled systems, production-grade applications and shipping modern software in a fast-moving and collaborative environment.
Behaviours/Qualities Who Will Thrive:
• Humility
• Curiosity
• Reliability
• Ownership
• A genuine passion for building quality software
They are particularly interested in candidates who want to grow their understanding of modern engineering environments, AI applications and what it takes to deliver and support those systems in production.
