About the Role

An opportunity is available for an experienced Backend Web Developer to join a collaborative digital team building high-quality, custom web applications. This role focuses on developing, implementing and maintaining robust backend solutions that power modern, customer-facing digital products.

You’ll play a key role in architecting scalable systems, optimising application performance, and ensuring clean, maintainable code standards. Working closely with front-end developers, designers and stakeholders, you’ll contribute to delivering seamless and impactful digital experiences.

Key Responsibilities

You will develop and maintain backend applications using PHP and Symfony, ensuring clean, efficient and well-structured code. You will design and implement scalable, secure and high-performing web solutions that meet both technical and business requirements. You will manage and optimise databases to maintain reliability, security and strong application performance.

Working closely with front-end developers, you will integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic to deliver seamless digital experiences. You will troubleshoot, debug and enhance existing applications to improve functionality and overall user experience.

You will also contribute to technical documentation, uphold development best practices, and participate in code reviews while actively supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the team.

Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience in Back-End Web Development with PHP and Symfony
• Solid understanding of broader web development principles
• Experience working with relational databases and performance optimisation
• Familiarity with front-end technologies and how they integrate with backend systems
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a team environment
