FIIG has a varied technology stack, which helps us scale our business within both the front and back office. Between these systems, there are a number of complex business processes & integrations which need to be monitored, managed, and improved to ensure no outages or core business issues.
The role of the Software Developer at FIIG will be responsible for:
- Performing enhancements and maintenance on FIIGs technology architecture to support critical business processes
- Developing test cases and unit tests to ensure high quality code is delivered
- Providing technical insight and assistance in the development and review of strategies and designs
- Performing investigative analysis on existing systems in order to baseline current state
- Assisting with the development of suitable methodologies, standards, and principles
- Identifying potential areas of process improvement (in the business and in the project), and raising these for discussion
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all levels of the organisation
- Providing accurate estimates for assigned work to project managers
What Will You Be Doing
You will be expected to perform the following tasks and responsibilities in a manner consistent with AUSIEX’s Values of Listen, learn, grow, Lead with passion take the initiative and Collaborate to innovate.
You will use your comprehensive skills to assist in the development, enhancement and maintenance of FIIG’s extensive Web Platform and related services, working with the latest JavaScript frameworks and .NET Core technologies.
Responsibilities
This role is based in Brisbane and the Software Developer supporting AUSIEX’s Fixed Income Division (FIIG) will be responsible for:
- Helping build out FIIG’s next generation of tools to support business optimisation, and leverage technology to achieve a high standard of customer service.
- Performing enhancement work and maintenance on FIIGs Web Platform
- Developing test cases and unit tests to ensure high quality code is delivered
- Providing technical insight and assistance in the development and review of strategies and designs
- Performing investigative analysis on existing systems in order to baseline current state
- Assisting with the development of suitable methodologies, standards and principles
- Identifying potential areas of process improvement (in the business and in the project), and raise these for discussion
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all levels of the organisation
- Monitoring, managing and resolving production issues
- Performing triage on incoming tickets or alerts, identifying root cause for issues
- Resolving non-functional performance issues
- Resolving functional defects in production code
- Reviewing system logs
- Designing, implementing & testing of hotfixes
- Performing developer operations and management of lower environments to ensure they are reflective of current state production and operational to build new features for upcoming releases.
- Working on upcoming features for release to test and production environments
- Providing accurate estimates for assigned work to project managers
Essential Skills
- 3+ years’ solid .NET Core development experience, including building and consuming RESTful APIs
- 3+ years’ React or Angular development experience, in addition to comprehensive knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Experience developing for the cloud (Azure/AWS)
- CI/CD deployment and release management (Azure DevOps)
- Strong SQL skills, including writing SQL queries and stored procedures (MS SQL Server experience highly desirable)
- Knowledge and experience in responsive UI / UX design
- Knowledge of micro-services architecture and domain driven design is an advantage
- Demonstrable understanding of software development methodologies and source control concepts, such as merge requests
- Relevant tertiary qualification
- Previous experience within financial services is desirable
- Able to demonstrate the ability to learn new systems, environments and business processes rapidly
- Problem solving, ability to break problems down and step through components to replicate issues
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and to react positively to shifting priorities
- Communication with stakeholders including senior business leaders
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to identify and raise issues early
- Committed work ethic and accountability
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the organisation
