Senior PhP Developer – PHP, Java/Kotlin, AWS - Amsterdam

My client is a leading software company with a strong technical team, building advanced content-creation software used daily by thousands of professionals worldwide. Their flagship product is a platform running on a custom PHP framework. You will join a talented, international engineering team responsible for the core of this platform.

About the Role

Are you ready to work on the core of a globally used publishing platform? And do you have the mindset to make a serious impact on the world of PHP?

You will take end-to-end ownership of features and improvements within the core publishing platform, occasionally collaborating with the Asset Digital Team (Java/Kotlin + Elasticsearch).

As a Senior PHP Engineer you will:

• Build and maintain features within our clients’ custom PHP framework
• Take end-to-end ownership from design and implementation through to deployment
• Read and interpret Java/Kotlin code in the asset layer to understand and debug cross-team issues
• Work with Elasticsearch, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS as part of the broader stack
• Collaborate in a multidisciplinary Scrum team alongside engineers, testers, and business stakeholders

Your profile

• 5+ years of professional PHP development experience
• Strong command of core PHP able to clearly describe the features and applications you’ve built
• 2+ years of Java experience, and a strong demonstrable affinity for Java/Kotlin and the JVM (personal projects count)
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Elasticsearch knowledge is a plus
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
