Are you a skilled DevOps Systems Engineer passionate about designing and managing complex systems? We are seeking a talented professional to join our team on a contract basis, focusing on the development, testing, and management of cutting-edge server and fleet management solutions.
Job Summary:
As a DevOps Systems Engineer, you will apply your expertise in computer science and systems analysis to create reliable, scalable, and efficient software and hardware solutions. Your primary focus will be on analyzing user needs and developing robust systems to meet those requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop back-end services, workflows, and automation tools for fleet management, covering full server lifecycle activities including network boot, firmware updates, OS provisioning, failure detection, erasure, and decommissioning.
- Build out-of-band server management tooling in multi-vendor environments, incorporating state management and telemetry collection.
- Write, review, and test code on hardware, automating testing processes to ensure system reliability.
- Troubleshoot provisioning, firmware update, and network boot issues end-to-end to maintain system integrity.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering or related fields.
- Experience in large server or bare metal server or similar.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP network fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience with Linux systems and server management.
- Proven troubleshooting skills for server network boot processes from both network and hardware perspectives.
- Proficiency in coding and scripting automation using Python, Go, Rust, Bash, or Ruby.
- Experience automating management of large server fleets using Redfish, IPMI, or similar protocols.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting analytics related to server and system architecture and components.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud deployment technologies.
- Linux/TCP/IP certifications are a plus.
