The following position will be filled at the Department of Networked and Embedded Systems - Faculty of Technical Sciences. The starting date is negotiable; the preferred starting date is June 1, 2026; the latest possible starting date is September 1, 2026.

Your responsibilities – what awaits you:
- Research in one of the following three domains:
- Machine learning (e.g., with application to communication systems, or energy systems, or biomedical/healthcare systems, or computer vision)
- Communication systems and signal processing (e.g., wireless communications, power line communications, communication and sensing)
- Electronic based systems (e.g., circuits and systems for communications, or IoT, or robotics)
The topic will be carefully tailored to match the candidate’s background, expertise, and research interests.
- Independent research with the aim to submit a dissertation and acquire the PhD
- Teaching in the field of electrical and computer engineering
- Participation in administrative and organisational tasks of the department
- Student mentoring
- Assistance in public relations activities of department and faculty
Your profile:
- The completion of a university degree (Master or Diplom-Ingenieur) at a domestic or foreign higher education institution in the field of electrical engineering, information and communications engineering, computer engineering, or informatics. This requirement must be fulfilled by May 17, 2026.
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Experience in three or more of the following fields: machine learning, signal/data processing, communications theory, information theory, signals and systems theory, control theory, wireless communications, power line communications, automation and robotics, smart grids, biomedical systems.
- A solid foundation in both engineering mathematics and statistics
- Programming skills, one or more among: C/C++, Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, GNU radio, VHDL, HFSS, CST, ADS.
- Ability to present with clarity and rigour a technical subject.
This distinguishes you additionally:
· Knowledge of German
· Good social, team work and communication competences
· First research contributions (in the thesis, with participation in research projects and/or publications)
· Relevant international experience
