Senior Network Engineer – Architecture & System Design
A leading global technology organisation is undertaking a major multi‑year transformation to modernise and unify critical communications infrastructure across the Nordic region. As part of this strategic programme, we are looking for a Senior Network Engineer (Architecture & System Design) to help build the next generation of high‑performance connectivity services used across consumer, industrial, and enterprise environments.
This is a rare opportunity to influence foundational network architecture that will support large‑scale, distributed systems for years to come. You will join a specialised infrastructure team working on advanced telecom-network integrations, cloud-native platforms, and next‑generation connectivity technologies.
Your Impact
In this role, you will be a pivotal contributor to the design, evolution, and delivery of an advanced communications network. You will work across base‑station, core‑network, ground‑network, and cloud‑integration layers, ensuring the entire platform is robust, scalable, and engineered for high reliability. Your contributions will directly shape the architectural roadmap of a next‑generation Nordic communications platform.
What You Will Do
- Define and design end‑to‑end network architectures across radio, core, and cloud layers (including integrations with modern distributed systems.)
- Create technical specifications, engineering designs, and documentation for network components and interfaces.
- Optimise existing systems for cost‑efficiency, scalability, and performance.
- Conduct technical evaluations, system operability testing, and proof‑of‑solution trials.
- Provide technical support during implementation and deployment of network features.
- Define interoperability requirements, standards alignment, and new feature introductions.
- Lead and mentor a small team of engineers, offering guidance, technical leadership, and structured development.
- Oversee project deliverables and ensure alignment with organisational objectives.
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of experience in network design, planning, or telecom systems engineering.
- Strong background working with cellular technologies (4G, 5G) within operators, infrastructure vendors, or carrier‑grade system environments.
- Experience with 3GPP standards, network virtualization (vRAN/SBI), and cloud‑native architectures.
Practical hands-on experience with:
- LTE eNodeB, 5G gNodeB
- EPC Core / 5G Core
- Containers & cloud platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, virtualised computers)
- Excellent understanding of end‑to‑end call flows (SMS, VoLTE, VoNR) and RRC/NAS procedures.
- Strong grasp of IP and non‑IP networking across distributed telecom systems.
- Background in Non‑Terrestrial Networks or advanced connectivity networks is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills in both Finnish and English.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, cross‑functional engineering environment.
What We Offer
- Opportunity to influence a once‑in-a-career Nordic infrastructure transformation.
- Work in a highly skilled, multicultural engineering team shaping next‑generation connectivity services.
- Competitive compensation package with equity possibilities.
- Health, wellness, education, and commuting benefits.
- Professional development budget and international mobility options.
- A flexible, open, and people‑focused workplace culture.
