Job Description


Overall Purpose


The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for planning, managing, and delivering complex technology and regulatory projects within the financial mortgage sector.


This role will need to ensure alignment with strategic objectives, timely execution of deliverables, and regulatory compliance, including initiatives that require direct client engagement and collaboration.


The successful candidate will play a critical bridging role between internal technical teams and external regulatory stakeholders, ensuring end-to-end transparency and quality in delivery.



What will you be doing


  • Managing multiple project workstreams simultaneously, including both technical and business-focused projects.
  • Manage the project teams through documentation and delivery phases, working through both Waterfall and Agile processes. Oversee the development, testing, and deployment of new systems and enhancements to existing systems.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, managing communications, providing project updates, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Coordinating project planning, risk management, change control, and status reporting processes.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks. Proactively address and resolve project issues, escalating to senior management as needed. Develop and implement risk management plans to minimise potential disruptions to project timelines and deliverables.
  • Ensuring full documentation and audit-readiness in collaboration with compliance teams.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive project strategies aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Work closely with the Development Manager and AWS Manager to ensure projects are aligned with the company's technology strategy and architectural standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key business and change stakeholders.
  • Ensure regulatory change initiatives are interpreted accurately and translated into clear technical and operational deliverables.
  • Collaborate with Risk and Compliance teams to support internal and external audits.
  • Track and report on benefits realisation, ensuring projects deliver measurable business value post-implementation.
  • Lead post-implementation reviews and lessons learned sessions to drive continuous improvement.




Qualifications


Expertise


Required Skills:


  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in project management within the financial services or mortgage sector.
  • Proven experience managing software development lifecycle (SDLC) projects with methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall.
  • Strong background in dealing with Banking institutions, particularly the mortgage sector.
  • Excellent stakeholder management (up to Board level) and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience managing project budgets, timelines, and resourcing plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Azure DevOps, MS Project, and/or similar.


Preferred Skills:


  • Formal project management certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile Scrum Master.
  • Familiarity with mortgage origination and servicing systems.
  • Ability to develop and manage detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, budget, and resource allocation. Proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex project issues. Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.


Additional information


Complexity

  • Direct experience interacting with the Bank's or other regulatory bodies, including experience with audits and compliance reporting. The Senior Project Manager must navigate ambiguity, adapt to shifting priorities, and balance the demands of internal delivery with external regulatory compliance. Projects will vary in size and scope, but are typically multi-disciplinary and business-critical.

Influence

  • The role has high visibility across the organisation, influencing decision-makers across Technology, Risk, Compliance, and Business Operations. It requires regular interaction with senior leadership and regulators, making strong interpersonal skills and professional presence essential. The role also shapes the culture and effectiveness of delivery teams through mentorship and leadership.


Resource

  • The Senior Project Manager will have project leadership over cross-functional delivery teams. Resource alignment and prioritisation will be conducted in partnership with functional leads, including the Development Manager, QA Lead, and BA Manager.
  • Reports to senior leadership and project steering committees.
  • Works closely with the Development Manager, developers, QAs, and BAs.
  • Engages with external regulatory bodies and financial partners.
  • Oversees budget allocation, resource planning, and vendor engagement.

Other

  • Must demonstrate a high standard of integrity and discretion, especially when handling sensitive regulatory information.
  • Full-time, flexibility required to align with project deadlines and stakeholder availability.
